What the role is:The Judiciary - comprising the Supreme Court, State Courts and Family Justice Courts - is one of the three constitutional pillars of government in Singapore. SENIOR / COURT FAMILY SPECIALIST (FAMILY JUSTICE COURTS) You will join a team of mental health professionals with a strong culture of support, learning and supervision from diverse backgrounds and work experiences. We seek to instil hope and make a difference in the lives of those going through legal proceedings. In the process, you will experience the fulfilment of seeing families or individuals resolve their disputes and find a way forward when their court proceedings conclude.What you will be working on:You will provide specialist services within the court system to assist families and the courts to achieve the best outcomes for families and children at the various stages of court proceedings. You may be assigned to two or more services: - Counselling & mediation services for divorce & child-custody, family violence, and emotional/psychological related concerns. - Family Conferencing and assessments of care and protection, youth arrest and family guidance cases. - Risk screening and case management in family violence, vulnerable adult and child protection matters. - Child Custody Evaluation, children\'s interviews and assessment reports to court. - Research and Evaluation: initiating research, monitoring trend analysis and evaluation of services to inform professional practice and programmes within the justice system. - Development and management of projects and programmes to support clinical and case work in areas of divorce and custody-related matter, family violence, vulnerable adult protection and child protection matters. You may be assigned a range of activities relating to the above services: - Provision of various therapeutic interventions, depending on the needs of the particular family or children at the various stages of the court proceedings. - Preparation of child custody or brief assessment reports to the court. - Liaison and consultation on case management with judicial officers, legal representatives and other professionals. - Triaging and referrals of families and children for external support services. - Participation in on-going professional supervision and development programmes. - Participation in planning and evaluation of new projects and programmes; and - Administrative and related duties. You are required to manage a substantial caseload, including complex cases, within the court case management framework.What we are looking for:- Relevant professional degree, preferably a Masters in psychology, counselling, social work or related field with eligibility for full clinical membership with a social work or mental health professional association. - At least 5 years of graduate work experience with couples, families, children and/or youth. - Experience in areas of custody evaluations, forensic assessments or mediation and conciliation will be advantageous. - Experience in research settings and project management will be an asset. - High-level written and oral communication skills are required. - A good team player who possesses strong counselling and report writing skills. - Ability to demonstrate strong analytical thinking through oral presentation and written reports. - Ability to prioritise and juggle multiple roles in a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will be appointed on a one-year probationary contract in the first instance. Only short-listed candidates will be notified.
