What you will be working on
We are looking for someone who is visionary, knowledgeable and experienced in leading a team of data scientists. If you like to design, develop and implement data science models and algorithms, we want you! Successful candidate’s primary job role focuses on being in-charge of solving stakeholders’ problems using advanced data science technologies. What to expect • Lead multi-party discussions to define, formulate and scope complex problems solvable through data science approach so as to address stakeholders’ strategic intents and operational outcomes • Design, develop and implement strategies and workflows for data pre-processing, feature engineering, and data integration effort for the purpose of Machine Learning (ML) model development • Apply advanced modelling techniques/ algorithms, and optimise codes to maximise algorithms’ efficiency and effectiveness • Create models using new / complex techniques and algorithms • Manage multiple large scale & rigorous model testing and evaluations for field deployment • Mentor data scientists in data science related technical issues The job-holder will be responsible for the following: • Apply statistical and machine learning techniques on large-scale datasets to address the diverse business needs for MHA • Design and implement workflows for data pre-processing and feature engineering, develop machine learning models, and evaluate techniques and algorithms • Lead statistical evaluation of analytical output (e.g. model) and regular review of productionized models; refresh/ retire models • Manage data analysis and visualisation projects and present analytical insights to business users and stakeholders • Collaborate closely with business users to extract actionable insights from data and processes and guide the team towards co-building data-driven & customized solutions • Formulate, refine and guide projects in one or more of the following areas: o Data mining and knowledge discovery o Machine learning o Visualisation o Link analysis o Graph databases o Artificial intelligence algorithms o Natural language processing o Automatic Speech Recognition o Geospatial Information System / geospatial analysis • Keep abreast of latest developments in the fields of Data Science / Artificial Intelligence • Coach and develop the officers under the job-holder’s charge
What we are looking for
• Masters or PhD in a quantitative discipline that involves Data Science/Analytics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics &/or Scientific Computing • Minimum 5 years of extensive experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches, including machine learning and statistical modelling • Well-versed in using and adapting algorithms from machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, numpy/scipy, pandas, NLTK &/or Tensorflow • Well-versed in visualisation tools such as Tableau, Qlikview/Qliksense, &/or Microsoft Power BI • Able to effectively convey complex data analysis and results to non-specialist users, as well as being able to converse in technical terms to experts • Able to work both independently and in teams, and across institutional boundaries • A strong track record of supervising practical delivery of projects is an advantage • A track record in deploying data science/AI models in production environments is an advantage All new appointees will be appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance.
