JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a Senior Engineer / Assistant Manager, Operations to oversee Keppel Networks\xe2\x80\x99 Bifrost subsea and terrestrial infrastructure globally. In this role, you will be responsible to provide technical leadership to a diverse operations technicians to ensure efficient day-to-day network operations, such as monitoring, troubleshooting, and providing support to Keppel Networks\xe2\x80\x99 Bifrost fiber pair customers and responding to network issues.

To ensure success as a Senior Engineer / Assistant Manager, Operations, you should demonstrate that you have the technical skills and ability and be an excellent team player, to be able to provide guidance to junior team members, foster teamwork and collaboration. You should be process oriented with knowledge and experience in managing network operations, and possess excellent troubleshooting skills, and have the ability to work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

  • Operations and maintenance support of Subsea SLTE/DWDM, Transmission Equipment, backbone transmission networks, Submarine Cable Landing Stations
  • Design and implement a variety of processes and SOP to improve operations productivity and efficiency
  • Ensure team members perform tasks in unison and respect each other
  • Act as an escalation point for the team on critical or chronic issues, and guide the team to address issues towards resolution, and putting improvement processes in place.
  • Lead a team through application of deep knowledge of one job area or broad knowledge of several job areas within Network Operations Support
  • Responsible for setting objectives and delivering results that have a significant impact within the context of a wider operational area. Identifies problems and updates or modifies working methods in own role without the benefit of defined procedures.
  • Resolve proactive and reactive L1 faults arising in the network equipment or individual customer services by analysing, troubleshooting and incident response on the system.
  • Ensure all fault tickets, IP/DCN services and optical transmission network incidents, and fiber pair customers\xe2\x80\x99 issues are resolved timely to meet performance Service Level Agreement (SLA) on Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and Quality of Service (QoS).
  • Act as main Point of Contact for the associated Terminal Parties, Customers, and Equipment Supplier(s)
  • Utilize several remote testing systems platforms applying fault isolation techniques and standard diagnostic procedures, to isolate and resolve equipment and circuit problem.
  • Ensure accuracy of hardware asset inventory (periodic physical asset audits), upkeep perfect circuits/networks records, timely update of OSS tools, adhere all internal/external audit requirements including the upkeep of the accuracy of all network operations relevant data, follow all internal process/procedures diligently
  • Ensure necessary coordination on certification field level testing. Coordinate with the technical teams for new enhancements issue resolution
  • Create and maintain infrastructure necessary for the growth and upkeep of field and network operations to drive network efficiency and availability
  • Requirement to plan and be part of weekly 24/7 rotational shift duties.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of experience with a telecommunication service provider or a major transmission equipment vendor.
  • At least 2 years of prior experience as a team lead or operations manager or similar role
  • Graduate or Diploma in Telecommunications/Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in Submarine cable systems, or optical transmission.
  • Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
  • A fast learner with multitasking skills and ability to work under pressure and perform given task with minimal to no supervision
  • Possess analytical and troubleshooting skills and knowledge that allows to adapt effectively in dealing with unfamiliar issues, challenges and problems
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of SDH, DWDM/ submarine cable system operations, Ethernet technologies and structured cabling. Should have used and be familiar with SDH/DWDM, Ethernet, OTDR, COTDR network testing equipment
  • Prior operational experience with at least one of the subsea equipment vendor such as Ciena, Infinera, Nokia, ASN, NEC, TE Subcom
  • Networks Project Implementation experience
  • Excellent communications and organizational skills
