[What the role is]
You will be part of the Modelling & Instrumentation Department (MID) in the Environmental Monitoring & Modelling Division (EMMD). MID manages the air and water quality continuous monitoring systems, performs trials/test-bedding of emerging monitoring technologies and conducts air and water quality modelling and research studies. The Modelling and Research Branch in MID is responsible for carrying out air dispersion and water quality modelling studies to assess and quantify the impact of policies and developmental projects on air and water quality. The team also carries out air and water quality research projects and data analysis to better understand air and water quality issues in Singapore.
[What you will be working on]
As part of the team, you will provide administrative and technical support to Engineers/Scientific Officers in working with a range of air and water quality models and research projects on the air quality, air pollution, water quality and water pollution issues in Singapore. You will be responsible for the following:
Assess water quality data to highlight unreliable data
Compile list of sources and emissions for the database of air pollution emissions
Prepare model inputs for simulations on air and water quality models to (i) assess impact of new developments, (ii) track impact of pollution incidents, and (iii) identify sources of air and water pollution, to support NEA\xe2\x80\x99s policies and operations
Provide administrative and technical support for the research projects on understanding the sources, characteristics and chemistry of air and water pollutants
Provide technical support for the deployment of EMMD\xe2\x80\x99s air and water quality system, or for air and water quality sampling
Call quotations and/or tenders for new projects and/or system
Work with the air and water quality monitoring branches on projects related to air and water quality monitoring
Assist in analyses of data and model outputs for model validation purposes
[What we are looking for]
Diploma in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Environmental Science
5-8 years of experience in working with and processing large datasets
Experience and demonstrate strong ability in data analysis, sense making and problem solving
Background in GIS, programming, data analytics or statistics will be an advantage
Self-motivating and driven to learn, innovate and improve processes
Demonstrate ability to undertake research work both individually and part of a team
Good command of spoken and written English and good communication skills
