DESIGNATION : Senior Engineer/Principal Engineer, , Gas & Chemical (Expansion Project)

RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Summary: We are looking for a highly motivated, hands-on Facilities Engineer who will be responsible for the engineering, design, commissioning, testing and start up of new manufacturing factories (factories producing solar wafer, cells and modules), specifically for Gas and Chemical Systems (supply and distribution), taking HSE, best practices, codes, space management and maintenance into consideration. Must be self-driven, able to think and work independently and able to manage subcontractors effectively. Candidate must be willing to be stationed overseas for longer term, at least 6 months or longer when required.
Essesntial Duties: Responsible for the engineering, design, installation, commissioning, testing, open issues identification and closure, and start-up of the relevant Systems, make recommendations, review and approval of documentation, support training and support during handover to operations and maintenance teams. Manage contractor throughout the entire project, and after execution of project you must execute a lessons learned and document this properly and to implement improvements into next project. Project Phase: -
  • Propose and prepare concept design for utility areas, coordination with multiple teams to obtain relevant input to be included in the concept and design, and consider HSE, relevant regulations and codes in the intended country, best practices, space management and maintenance as well as daily operations tasks. Prepare technical tendering package for the system and prepare cost estimate and schedule for system.
  • Work with Contractors to design, review and buy-off Gas and Chemical Systems and supply designs for Solar Factories (could be for greenfield or brownfield depending on project).
  • Do reviews underway in project to ensure every detail is correct and as required, prevent over / under design. Participate and contribute to Value Engineering and HazOp. Conduct and own Safe To Operate. Identify and track open issues, checking and ensuring adequate measures for closure of open issues.
  • Conduct frequent site inspections and attend site meetings to ensure high quality standard work and timely delivery in accordance to schedule and cost.
  • Review and help develop all required specifications, operating procedure (SOP), working instructions (WI), Failure mode effect analysis (FMEA) and ensure all documentation are properly updated.
  • Review and help develop and conduct Risk Assessment (RA) for all relevant systems in Facilities.
  • Meet Cost Budget and schedule without compromise to safety and long-term reliability of the buildings and facilities.
  • Do Lessons Learned to improve design of future systems. Perform feasibility studies and make recommendation for future expansion plans where required.
  • Possess excellent hazards/risk assessment and mitigation methodologies and skill sets working on gas and chemical systems.

Start-Up and Ramp-Up Phase: -
  • Work with Local team for the following to ensure the facilities and maintenance of the systems are correctly set-up to enable and also to support the following:-
    • Operations and maintenance of relevant systems in new Solar Factories, plan preventive maintenance for relevant systems etc.
    • Prepare all required specifications, operating procedure (SOP), working instructions (WI), Failure mode effect analysis (FMEA) and ensure all documentation are properly updated and maintained.
  • Support general on-site technical & engineering matters relating to relevant systems.
  • Support to resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
  • Plan critical spare inventories for relevant systems.
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned by reporting Manager.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 2 to 3 years relevant experience in operating and maintaining Gas and chemical systems
  • At least 5 years experience in design and project engineering of relevant systems, including installation and hookup.
  • Bachelors in Engineering, Technology or Science. Prefer Chemical Engineering or process engineering
  • Good supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, independent and accountability.
  • Proactive & assertive team player.
  • Knowledge of engineering software (e.g. Auto CAD) and ability to do shop drawing / update of SLD
  • Possess good understanding of P&ID & process flow drawings.
  • Knowledgeable in PLC/HMI/SCADA high level communication interfaces.
  • Required skill(s): MS Office package, Autocad, scheduling SW.
  • Strong safety mindset.

  • Ability to write and speak fluent English.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and do multitasking.

  • Working experience in Solar/Semiconductors/Electronics manufacturing industries is an advantage, but not required.
  • Good knowledge and experience working in a Semiconductor, Solar Plant or Manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of working with EPCM / contractors / vendors.


OTHER INFORMATION
  • The position holder has full responsibility for Project deliverables and activities pertinent to the Projects, and may execute according to individual project authorizations given in each case. The position holder is accountable for the engineering and design, installation, commissioning, testing and closure of open issues for the assigned systems.
  • Physically capable to work indoors and outdoors in construction environments.
  • Candidate must be willing to be stationed overseas for longer term, at least 6 months or longer when required.
