Job Description

:

  • This position is for Office of Admissions and Financial Assistance.
  • Primary Liaison for Document Verification and Compliance
  • Serve as the main point of contact for verifying high school academic results submitted by international applicants, ensuring accuracy, authenticity, and alignment with SMU admissions standards.
  • Work with the OAFA UG team on processing and verify a wide range of standardised English proficiency test scores (e.g., SAT, IELTS, TOEFL, ACT, PET, C1 Advanced), ensuring timely and accurate data entry into the admissions system.
  • Maintain close coordination with testing agencies to resolve discrepancies and clarify documentation issues efficiently.
  • End-to-End Management of Student Pass Applications
  • Act as one of the liaison with ICA to manage and process student pass applications for international students, ensuring all required documents are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Monitor applicants' completion of administrative requirements for student pass processing, providing timely reminders and guidance.
  • Track the issuance of In-Principle Approval (IPA) letters from ICA and follow up on any delays or irregularities.
  • Ensure applicants secure e-appointments for student pass collection and manage scheduling for ICA's off-site enrolment and verification processes held at SMU.
  • Coordinate closely with ICA and internal SMU stakeholders to resolve issues promptly and minimize disruptions to students' enrolment.
  • Dedicated Admissions Support for the School of Economics (SOE)
  • Manage applicants shortlisted for Economics programme, with special attention to academic results and other relevant credentials.
  • Set up, schedule, and host virtual interviews on Zoom for SOE interview panels, ensuring a seamless applicant experience.
  • Schedule interviews and sending notifications via online interview scheduler.
  • Communicate directly with applicants regarding interview details, scholarship results, and other admissions-related outcomes.
  • Respond to applicant appeals, programme change requests, and other complex queries, ensuring clear and professional communication aligned with SMU's admissions policies.
  • Update and maintain applicant records on SMU's ISIS, including changes in programme preferences, interview outcomes, and scholarship status.
  • Provide administrative support for scholarship offer processes, correspondence, and documentation management.
  • Guide and train admissions student temps to conduct and schedule interviews.
  • Outreach and Engagement Support
  • Support the planning and execution of key student recruitment and outreach events, including Learning Journeys to SMU, Junior College and Polytechnic fairs, SMU Poly Day, IB Day, and the SMU Scholarship Showcase.
  • Represent the admissions team at school fairs and open houses, providing accurate and engaging information to prospective students and their families.
  • Assist with event logistics, registration, and post-event follow-ups to support a positive impression of SMU and drive application conversion.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Diploma or Degree with at least 2 years of work experience.
  • Good communication skills and enjoy talking to people.
  • Meticulous, with strong administrative skills and the ability to multi-task across different projects.
  • Proficient with Office tools such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Proficient with technology tools such as Zoom, and willing to learn new systems.
  • Strong customer service mindset with the ability to respond to different types of personalities.
  • Knowledge of and interest in SMU will be an advantage.
