Job Description


Broad FunctionAssist and support the Bed Management Unit (BMU) to plan, coordinate and provide efficient and clinically appropriate ward placement of all patients entering or transferring within the Woodlands Health Campus Hospital.Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and improvement of workflows and processes in BMU
  • Assist in the development of algorithm for bed allocation based on hospital\'s clinical segmentation and patients\' requirements
  • Assist in the bed assignment operations for patients admitted through ED, Clinics or for scheduled operations
  • Perform bed allocation duties and assign beds in accordance to the hospital guidelines
  • Coordinate patient movement with wards and other departments
  • Identify potential bed tight situation and activate bed tight measures
  • Liaise with other hospitals and LTC operator for direct admission, when required
  • Handle bed enquiries and respond to or follow up on bed/transfer requests
  • Optimise manpower utilisation through effective rostering
  • Coordinate OJT programs for new staff by identifying training needs, plan and organise programs and schedules, continuously evaluate and monitor staff progress, initiate reviews/feedback session
  • Assist to develop training materials and provide training to frontline staff in the areas of bed allocation in accordance to guideline.
  • Generating and analysing information to identify trends and provide key analysis for effective Management decision making and action
  • Provide secretariat support to divisional/departmental meeting, committees, taskforce and workgroup meetings as required
  • Where directed by Reporting Officer, and/or Director, Department of Inpatient Operations to support in other WH-related projects and tasks
Requirement
  • Degree with 2 years working experience preferred, preferably in BMU, in an operations or service background
  • Experience in healthcare operations preferred
  • Ability to plan, organise, supervise and execute
  • Analytical and innovative thinker
  • Service-oriented with good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good team player and ability to manage relationships (internal and external)
  • Ability to work independently and also in a team
