Job Description


What the role is:This role involves comprehensive Islamic content review and quality assurance, including analysing articles, social media posts, and video scripts to ensure alignment with mainstream Islamic teachings. The officer verifies Quranic verses, authenticates hadiths, validates Islamic concepts, and cross-references information with reliable sources. They consult scholars on complex matters, contextualise teachings for contemporary relevance, and check for cultural sensitivities. Additionally, the role includes managing a pool of freelance writers, assigning tasks, providing feedback, and ensuring prompt payments. The officer collaborates with content creators to refine material, maintaining high standards of religious accuracy and accessibility for diverse audiences.What you will be working on:Content review:

  • Carefully read and analyse all articles, social media posts, videos scripts, and other content before publication.
  • Ensure that the content aligns with mainstream Islamic teachings and principles.
  • Check for potential misinterpretations or controversial statements that could lead to misunderstandings.
Quranic verse verification:
  • Confirm the accuracy of all Quranic verses cited, including their translation and context.
  • Ensure that the verses are relevant to the topic and used appropriately.
  • Verify the correct transliteration of Arabic text, if used.
Hadith authentication:
  • Verify the authenticity and grading of all hadiths cited (e.g., sahih, hasan, da'if).
  • Check the complete chain of narration (isnad) when necessary.
  • Ensure that the hadith is from a reliable collection (e.g., Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim).
  • Confirm that the translation and interpretation of the hadith are accurate and contextually appropriate.
Islamic teachings validation:
  • Verify that all Islamic concepts, rulings, and practices mentioned are in line with the Islamic teachings.
  • Check that historical events and figures are accurately portrayed.
Source verification:
  • Cross-reference information with reliable Islamic sources, including classical and contemporary scholarly works.
  • Ensure that all references and citations are accurate and properly attributed.
Consultation with scholars:
  • Identify complex or sensitive religious matters that require further expert opinion.
  • Reach out to qualified Islamic scholars e.g. from Office of The Mufti for guidance on these issues.
  • Document and incorporate scholarly opinions into the content as needed.
Contextualisation:
  • Ensure that Islamic teachings are presented in a way that is relevant and applicable to contemporary issues and the local context.
  • Check that explanations are clear and accessible to the target audience, which may include both Muslims and non-Muslims.
Sensitivity check:
  • Review content for potential cultural or interfaith sensitivities.
  • Ensure that the tone and language used are respectful and promote harmony.
Feedback and revision:
  • Provide detailed feedback to content creators on any necessary changes or improvements.
  • Work collaboratively with the content team to revise and refine the material until it meets the required standards of religious accuracy.
Freelance writer management:
  • Manage a pool of freelance writers for content creation.
  • Assign tasks and provide clear briefs to freelance writers.
  • Review and provide feedback on submitted content.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payments to freelance writers for their work.
  • Maintain good relationships with freelancers to ensure a reliable pool of talent.
What we are looking for:Educational Qualifications:
  • Tertiary education in Islamic Studies, Shariah, or related field from a recognised institution
  • ARS (Asatizah Recognition Scheme) certification, as recognised by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS)
Religious Knowledge and Expertise:
  • Comprehensive understanding of Islamic sciences, including Quran, Hadith, Fiqh, and Aqidah
  • Proficiency in classical Arabic language
  • Familiarity with various schools of Islamic thought and jurisprudence
  • Understanding of contemporary Islamic issues and their application in the Singaporean context
Professional Experience:
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Islamic teaching, research, or content creation
  • Experience in content verification or editorial roles preferred
  • Familiarity with digital media platforms and content management systems
Skills and Competencies:
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English, Malay and Arabic, as selected candidate will be required to work with materials in these languages
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Familiarity with digital research tools and online Islamic resources
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Familiarity with content management systems and social media platforms
  • Basic understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) principles as they relate to religious content
