We are looking for a candidate with a keen interest in legal and compliance work to support the work of the Law Society's Compliance department and other departments as required.
The successful candidate should be a paralegal or legal secretary who has experience working in a law practice environment or have other relevant legal experience and is willing to learn on the job.
The specific duties include providing legal support for and processing applications relating to the Compliance department's work, including but not limited to the following:
To assist in the processing of applications for / renewals of Practising Certificates annually
To process and handle various types of applications (including Court applications) handled by the Compliance Department under the Legal Profession Act 1966
To attend / respond to compliance enquiries from solicitors and law practices over calls, emails or in person
To support the work of various practice committees
To comply with, and, where necessary, help to develop/ manage/ streamline standard operating procedures, systems and processes of the department
To help with elitigation filings
To prepare letters and emails to be sent out to external parties
To keep track of timelines and deadlines and ensure timely follow-up on matters
To provide prompt and accurate information to internal and external stakeholders
To compile and analyse statistics relating to the legal profession
To conduct legal research into legal compliance matters
