The position of Senior Operational Controller is to manage financial planning processes, coordinate monthly closing and to provide analysis on overall performance and profitability for the Business Unit. This includes providing accurate and relevant management information, ad-hoc analysis and proactive engagement with stakeholders to improve profitability. Stakeholders include managers at the various division and corporate functions members including Corporate Finance. Also liaise with Treasury and corporate functions on various topics such as Fx hedging, intercompany markups etc.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
1. Budgeting and Forecasting
Coordinate financial forecasts with controllers at the entities and participate in the sales & margin forecasting process
Collaborate and guide legal entity controllers across the globe and key business stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely submission of data into company's financial platforms and constructively challenge them to improve the data quality
2. Month-End Close and Reporting
Coordinate the month end process with legal entity controllers to prepare and consolidate BU management P&L
Conduct thorough variance analysis and provide monthly insights to the leadership team
Report P&L by the Business Unit actuals vs budgets
3. Dashboard, Variance Analysis and Insights
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in line with corporate accounting policies. This covers monthly, quarterly forecasting, latest estimate and budget reporting processes.
Analysis of financial performance of the BU and identify improvement measures
Creating various dashboards and report providing insights to the company's financial performance
4. Controlling - Business Partner
Analyze data and prepare the BU P&L for Global Leadership team. Provide the variance analyses & prepare financial bridges and other insights for the critical business decisions
Collaborate with management team with regard to discussion of variances, forecasts and identify potential corrective measures
5. Other Deliverables
Legacy BU Split P&L reporting
Provide input to the FX-hedging approach (forecasts) and participate in making hedging decisions with the Treasury team
Review from different perspectives including income tax and customs etc. and implement intercompany transfer pricing approach for the BU globally including monitoring of markups and adjustment measures
Deputy to Head of Operational Controlling in his/her absence
Requirements
Master of Business Administration, ideally in Finance
8 years minimum work experience, thereof several years in finance & controlling in a multinational company
Extensive experience and a solid understanding of pigment manufacturing processes and business models. As our company operates within the pigment manufacturing sector, the Financial Controller must be equipped to interpret and analyze financial data in the context of production cycles, raw material sourcing, formulation costs, and market dynamics unique to the industry. This knowledge enables more accurate forecasting, cost control, and strategic financial planning. It also ensures alignment between financial decisions and operational realities, ultimately supporting business growth and profitability.
