What the role is
Consumer Chemicals Technology Centre (CCTC) is a new Research & Development (R&D) centre under the Department for Technology, Innovation and Enterprise (TIE). CCTC plays an integral role in transforming industries in personal care, food and nutrition, pharmaceutical and healthcare through capability transfer and innovation solution. The appointee will be part of the research team to deliver funded projects, industry consultancy projects, create intellectual property (IP) and support businesses in consumer care, healthcare, etc. He/She will lead the development of consumer care products for CCTC.
What you will be working on
Responsibilities: - Design, propose and perform experiments in the areas of cosmetics formulations to collect data and ensure work integrity and quality control. This includes research on actives or new technology in cosmetics - Build and develop capabilities in the areas of cosmetic formulations and product evaluations leading to capability transfer by providing training for staff and students - Identify commercialization opportunities by collaborating with industry partners and government agencies to support product launch for SMEs - Strengthen and maintain network with industry and/or agencies in the consumer business sector - Prepare and submit R&D proposals to secure grants to support developmental work that leads to product commercialization and licensing - Provide consultancy services to clients and assist in product commercialisation and/or licensing - Keep abreast of current and future developments and trends in consumer care industries - Provide operational and administrative support to school activities and supervision of students - Conduct courses and supervise students in their student project/internship
What we are looking for
Requirements: - Relevant qualifications in Chemistry or Biochemistry, or related field - Experience in formulating a variety of cosmetic products as well as cosmetic product evaluation - Self-driven, independent and possess readiness to work as a team - Passionate about education and possess strong interest in mentoring students - Keen interest in pursuing new technologies and advances in the areas of formulation science of cosmetics. - Technology-savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office Tools - Good interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) Successful applicant will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
