Job Description


The Office of Information, Knowledge, and Library Services (OIKLS) invites applications for the position of Senior Librarian, Open Science and Research Services. The job holder will provide research services to support NTU researchers in the monitoring and reporting of their research impact and also proactively engage stakeholders to identify opportunities to help NTU research community reap benefits of leveraging open science, research data management and research visibility.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with NTU stakeholders to generate and analyse publications data that are useful for research and education drivers.
  • Provide consultation and instructional services to faculty and early career researchers on using the various databases to search and monitor their individual research impact indicators.
  • Develop and maintain resources, guides, and documentation related to research metrics, impact assessment methodologies, and responsible research evaluation.
  • Implement automated mechanisms and data workflows to query databases to extract and manipulate publications and research impact metrics data.
  • Provide consultation, instruction and self-help materials to NTU faculty, research staff and students on the use of tools for data anaylsis and visualisation of publications and research impact metrics.
  • Collaborate with researchers, the university and library\xe2\x80\x99s communications teams, and other stakeholders to identify and communicate key research achievements to diverse audiences using various communications channels.
  • Implement a research visibility strategy that incorporates the optimal use of researcher profiles, identifiers and benchmarking metrics.
  • Manage and provide consultation to authors in selecting reputable journals for publishing their works.
  • Manage and provide guidance to researchers in leveraging open science and research data management tools to improve the reproducibility of their research processes.
  • Facilitate open access publishing processes to aid researchers in identifying financial support for Article Processing Charges (APCs)
Requirements
  • A Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in academic libraries or in providing research support services within a university library or a research setting is preferred.
  • Ability to independently provide consultations and trainings for researchers, offering guidance on research impact metrics and indicators data extraction and reports, use of open science tools, publication and research visibility strategies.
  • IT skills such as Python, Excel, VBA, SQL, JavaScript for purpose of using APIs; skilled in parsing and manipulating data in different formats (e.g., JSON, XML, CSV)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Service-oriented with effective interpersonal skills to develop good working relations among peers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills to drive results.
  • Agile and ability to work under tight deadlines and constraints.
