Job Description


:

  • Management of student leaders from the SMU Sports & Adventure Clubs
  • Oversee, mentor, and guide the student leaders of the SMU Sports and Adventure clubs in the development and implementation of strategic goals in support of SMU Vision 2025.
  • Oversee, mentor and guide student leaders in club governance, finance and branding to establish credible student-led Sports and Adventure clubs in SMU.
  • Guide and support student leaders in risk assessment in collaboration with the SMU Office of Safety and Security.
  • Discover and nurture student leaders through out-of-the-classroom programmes/events/activities
  • Develop and conduct regular reviews and assessments of student activities and programmes, including evaluation of the performance of sports clubs.
  • Oversee and guide student leaders in the conceptualization, operations and technical aspects of students-led events and activities.
  • Mentor and facilitate the delivery of the SMU Graduate Learning Outcomes (GLOs) through the events and activities organized by student clubs.
  • Assess student leaders on the SMU GLOs at a personal and group level using the Integrated Co-curricular Management System (ICMS) through Sports and Adventure events/activities.
  • Assist in the coordination, formulation and periodic review towards the delivery of SMU GLOs through appropriate student leadership developmental programmes with internal offices and external agencies/organizations.
  • Oversee external stakeholder management (SportSG, National Sports Association)
  • Oversee the relationship management with current partners (eg SportSG/NSAs) to enhance Sports and Adventure initiatives/events/activities.
  • Build and establish new partnerships with NSAs/sponsors/external parties to enhance the quality of Sports and Adventure cluster\'s initiatives/events/activities.
  • Regularly review SportSG and the NSA policies and propose implementation to SMU sports clubs to keep them relevant and updated.
  • Review and propose changes in safety management in SMU based on the regulations set by SportSG and its attendant NSAs.
  • Network with other counterparts from local IHL and overseas university to exchange ideas, strengthen relationships and forge mutually beneficial partnerships when the opportunity presents itself.
  • Oversee internal operational/administrative functions of the Sports and Adventure cluster
  • Contribute relevant expertise and experience to the cluster\'s aggregate competencies in Sports and Adventure leadership development.
  • Oversee the programmes\'/events\'/activities\' budget at the cluster level.
  • Oversee student clubs and the Sports and Adventure cluster\'s administrative functions.
  • Manage and establish strong working relationships with other units and offices to promote Sports and Adventure initiatives/events/participation.
  • Support and manage the office\'s and the cluster\'s marketing and partnership efforts.
  • Manage sports teams and convene competitions within the Singapore Univeristy Sports Council (SUSC) and Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic Council (IVPC).
  • Manage the Aptitude Based Admission and Yip Pin Xiu Scholarship, and Shu Li Sports Excellence Awards for student athletes.
  • Manage the operations of SMU sports facilities (eg. SMU Gymnasium, swimming pool and Multi-Purpose Sports Hall).
  • Lead the Sports and Adventure cluster in the collaborative organization of university events (e.g. SMU Patron\'s Day, SMU Open House).
  • Any other roles and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • A university degree in any field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in a role working on sports and student development programmes.
  • Experience working with SportSG, NSAs or other IHLs in collaborative projects/sporting events.
  • Experience in the management of sporting events and facilities will be an advantage.
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Facilitation skills and knowledge of assessment of learning outcomes will be a key advantage.
  • Possess strong organizing, coordinating and administrative capabilities.
  • Possess strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the aptitude to craft proposal and media narrative regarding sports-related activities in SMU.
  • Ability to guide, influence and be assertive with colleagues and students where necessary.
  • Experienced in managing major student events.
  • Experienced in coaching and mentoring students.
  • Good financial accounting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and able to be an excellent team player when called upon.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
