Job Description

:
You will be responsible for the husbandry and maintenance of plants and displays and provide advice to raise horticultural standards in our Cloud Forest. Your knowledge of glasshouse operations will lead to innovations in pest and disease management and provide for the healthy long-term sustainability of Conservatory plants in a public setting. You will be required to provide expertise on the latest developments in the horticulture & greenhouse industry, particularly in sourcing for novel plant introductions to add to the diversity of plants that can be used to further enhance our exhibits and landscapes and add interest to our local gardening scene. You will also be expected to plan and manage projects, as well as contribute to programs and activities in the Cloud Forest to enhance the visitor experience so as to serve the Gardens' goal of being an attraction for all to own, enjoy and cherish.
Your job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Replanting and improvements works, including supervision of horticultural works done by the rope access specialist on the Cloud Forest mountain.
• Monitor pest proliferation, pest inspection and carry out chemical treatment.
• Assist with the procurement of plants, equipment and props and be involved in relandscape projects and flora shows.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Horticulture-related discipline
• 6 years of relevant working experience in horticulture
• Possess a keen and passionate interest in plants and gardening and able to be hands-on to support the daily operations
• Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
• Good knowledge of various computer software and applications including Microsoft Office
• Able to work outside of normal operating hours as and when required due to occasional night landscape installation and/or complete specific plant maintenance activities
