About the role

Housed under the Energy Storage Mechanical Design team, the Engineer will report to the Design Engineering Manager.

The role is suited for candidates looking to be an independent engineer, above the entry grade.

For a successful transition into the role and team, the candidate should firstly have interest in the space of energy storage solutions. They should possess a good foundation in fundamental mechanical engineering principles and a keen interest to develop their skills in unfamiliar technical areas independently. The role looks to fill a gap in a team that looks to accelerate its understanding of a fast-paced project in its development phase. The candidate should therefore expect to exercise both technical and soft skills on a regular basis to address the problem statement across varying functions in the business.

Skillsets needed for the role,

• Comfortable and confident in having technical communications with external stakeholders. This role will involve a significant amount of time engaging with suppliers in the development phase of the project. It could also involve travel once to twice a year for those purposes.

• Interactions with multiple internal stakeholders regularly to capture and address technical risks for a successful project delivery.

• Independent learning and challenging of novel concepts with fundamental engineering principles which will not be limited to Mechanical Engineering.

• Hands-on and willing to be in a workshop/production environment with the use of common hand tools.

• A strong understanding and intuition for thermal engineering in practice is beneficial.

• Independent in driving discussions to design and run DOEs of a novel system.

• Inclination towards the understanding of equipment design impacts the output product with the use of engineering tools such as statistics and FMEA.

• Flexible with learning different approaches to engineering problems but also confident in the rationale for their existing approaches from prior experiences.

• Capable of using 3D modelling and 2D drafting for prototyping. Familiarity with Siemen Teamcenter and NX is beneficial.

About You

• Degree or relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
• 4+ years of Engineering Industry Experience.
• Willingness to spend time in a workshop/production environment for developmental reasons.
• Passionate about identifying and managing engineering risks.
• Ability to design customised test set ups and test methods.
• Comfortable with analysing, reporting, and presenting data to aid decision making.
• Interest in breaking down new engineering problems to build an approach to solving the issue.
• Strong organisational skills with a methodical and detailed approach to prioritise one\'s own work package to meet timelines.
• Beginner to Intermediate in CAD modelling.
