Job Description

Imperium Commodity Search is working with a multinational petrochemical and polymers trading house seeking a petrochemical trader for their growing operation in Singapore. Our client is committed to innovation and a sustainable polymer and petrochemical market with a quickly growing front office presence across the globe.
Duties and responsibilities:

• Manage a back to back trading book of petrochemical and chemical products including polymers, glycols, aromatics, olefins, methanol, styrene monomer etc.
• Ensure new trading opportunities and sales side customers are capitalised upon and continue the growth of the chemicals trading book
• Work closely with the middle and back office teams to ensure smooth operational procedures across logistics, finance and contracts
• Stay up to date with market insight, analysis and movements to be in a strong trading position and identify areas to target for business and trading growth
• Work with existing trading teams to identify needs across the polymer and secondary products business whilst ensuring PnL and volume targets are met with regards petrochemical products book
• Point of contact for other teams and local management on petrochemical and chemical product related queries
• Work with middle and back office teams on analysis and reporting across the chemicals and petrochemicals markets

Experience:

• 7-10+ years' experience in a petrochemicals or chemicals trading position
• Excellent PnL record with a proven ability to build and operate a profitable chemicals and petchems trading book
• Superb network of suppliers, customers and shipping providers to the petrochemical industry
• Good analytical skills with the ability to read and interpret market data and reports as well as an eye for detail in generating internal market advisory and analytics information
• Understanding of the shipping and operational aspects of international petrochemical trading
• Excellent knowledge of individual petrochemical and chemical products across Methanol, Glycols, Styrenes, Aromatics, Olefins and IPA
• Good understanding of the polymers and plastics industry and exposure to polymer or plastics trading
• Excellent commercial mindset and ability to grow and maintain a petrochemical trading book
• Good knowledge of the Singaporean and APAC markets preferred
• Fluent in English (additional languages beneficial but not essential)
