Role Responsibilities

This is a key Fixed Income Portfolio Management role within the Discretionary Portfolio Management team, involving (1) Portfolio management, (2) Sales and marketing, and (3) Product management & governance functions.

Portfolio Management

• Day to day Portfolio management of Fixed Income single securities DPM strategies across Asian/ EM Bonds, as \xe2\x80\x98Lead PM\xe2\x80\x99.
• Close collaboration with our CIO (Chief Investment Office) Fixed Income strategists, to produce a market leading buy list of Asian/ EM bonds, and ensure that the combined CIO/ DPM team buy lists are diligently implemented, with excellent portfolio construction
• Work closely with our Capital Markets/ Trading team to monitor liquidity in the market and ensure our Asian/ EM bond mandates benefit from access to good market pricing, IPOs etc.
• Develop and perform quantitative analysis of portfolios to understand the risk/return characteristics, potential impact and/or complementary nature of different investments within Asian/ EM bond portfolios.
• Close liaison with our Middle Office/ Back Office \xe2\x80\x93 to ensure diligent implementation of the DPM portfolios vis a vis operational considerations.
• Strong \xe2\x80\x98end to end\xe2\x80\x99 Portfolio Management mind-set is required \xe2\x80\x93 from implementation/ execution \xe2\x80\x93 through to systems/ settlement at the back end (liaising with other colleagues/ teams as appropriate).
• Active involvement in growing our Customised Mandates business, consisting of combinations of Funds, ETFs and Single Securities)
• Mentor junior colleague to support as assistant PM.
• Participate and contribute to the bank\xe2\x80\x99s Global Investment Committee to formulate the house view.
• As part of the wider DPM team, assist in the management of other DPM mandates (Fund of Funds, ETFs).

Sales & Marketing Support

• Frontline/ client presentations, with a primary focus on Asian/ EM bond DPM mandates. Communicate effectively the team\xe2\x80\x99s strategy and portfolio positioning, with a primary focus on Asian/ EM Bonds.
• Pro-actively prepare forward-looking analysis and commentary on portfolio performance and risks, and communicate these to the frontline.
• Manage and develop internal and externally approved marketing collaterals.
• Client pitches and portfolio reviews as required.
• Active participation to expand the DPM Asian/ EM product offering widely across the business.
• A strong \xe2\x80\x98commercial mindset\xe2\x80\x99, with a drive to grow the business, is key.

Product Management and Governance

• Observe governance procedures and perform risk oversight on the mandates in adherence to SCB stated policies.
• Contribute to the general development of investment, risk and governance processes.
• Performance Attribution \xe2\x80\x93 attention to detail and willingness to help drive this part of the process.
• Assist in the preparation of materials for key governance meetings.

Our Ideal Candidate

• DPM Asian/ EM bonds relevant experience (10+ years of portfolio management, focused on fixed income mandates).
• Strong preference for Private Bank/ Wealth Management background \xe2\x80\x93 ideally someone proficient with the mechanics of Asian bonds for separately managed accounts (SMAs). Experience of both types of mandates (SMAs and unitised funds) is advantageous.
• Focus (experience) mainly on Asian bonds, however other EM/ Global is also helpful.
• Knowledge of, and aptitude to deal with, operational complexities of Single Securities Fixed Income.
• Undergraduate degree, preferably with an Economics/Finance background. Post-graduate education preferred.
• CFA, CAIA and other similar qualifications are advantageous.
• Good understanding of financial markets and investment instruments.
• Well versed in finance theory and quantitative techniques applied to portfolio construction and management.
• Prior client facing experience in a private bank or portfolio management environment is necessary.
