& RequirementsPerform design (CAD modelling) and optimization (CAE modelling/FEM simulation) of advanced cooling systems for leading-edge power electronics in which heat or energy is transferred through liquids. Also construct these systems, and conduct test and verification to ensure functionality and meet quality and cost requirements.Key Responsibilities: . Develop system requirements and specifications and translate them into design guidelines and test protocols.. Provide thermo-mechanical design of cooling system at a component, subassembly, and system level. To accomplish this, you need to have wide experience and deep understanding on the latest cooling technology and the individual cooling components such as cold plate, pump, heat exchanger, instrumentation and control, and methodologies used in power electronics.. Perform thermal & flow analysis, and structural analysis (vibration/shock/drop) on different types of components/sub-assembly such as cold plate, heat sinks/heat pipes, thermal interface materials, high powered electronics, printed circuit boards (PCBs), cabinet/enclosure.. Plan and run thermal/flow/structural test and verification at the component and system level.. Drive for technical integration across a wide range of disciplines including system engineering, mechanical/fluid design, thermal/fluid analysis, energy analysis, connecting and tubing, wire harness.. Address and resolve product issues through the overall product development phases.. Propose innovative and high-impact technology/process to meet requirements of quality and cost of product.Education and Experience: . Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in Thermal/Mechanical/Material/Energy Engineering or related.. Prefer to have 3 years and above experience as a thermal/mechanical engineer or similar experience for product engineering design/development and transfer to manufacturing.. Strong thermal/mechanical/material/energy engineering fundamentals and skills, including design principle, metal/plastic/rubber design rules, fluid mechanics, thermodynamic systems, finite element analysis, material and surface treatment, gasket and sealing, and fabrication methods, are required.. Wide experience in cooling of electronics, thermal and structural simulations.. Experience and hands-on capability in test and verification of complex thermal/cooling systems.. Experience in FMEA, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA.. Proficient with Solidworks (Standard) and associated finite element tools (Flow and Structure Simulation) or other CAD/CAE tools, preferably CFD simulation tools such as Flotherm.Competencies, knowledge, skills, attributes: . In depth knowledge of thermal/flow/mechanical/material/energy engineering theory and competency in cooling of electronics.. Understanding of electrical/electronic basic, sensor (e.g., temperature sensor, flow sensor) and control (e.g., pump, valve), standards and regulations.. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.. Good team player, being creative, can do attitude.. Good written and verbal communication skills.. Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
