Job Description

• Perform studies, development and qualifications ensuring the final product meets target physical properties, meets its functionality, cost, manufacturability, and the total product meet desired consumer acceptance metrics, regulatory requirements, environmental issues and sustainability, storage, transport and distribution conditions.

• Provide technical guidance in qualification of suppliers for R&D initiatives including design of experiments and supplier manufacturing process qualifications.

• Provide technical and scientific support to manufacturing operation to ensure product quality and efficiency.

• Conduct commissioning, qualification, validation of new pilot plant equipment and instruments and defined scope in capital projects to support new innovation and supply chain initiatives. Prepare preventive and repair and maintenance program for the related new pilot plant equipment and instruments.

• Prepare or provide input to Engineering design and drafting technical details of proposed engineering projects.

• Responsible for budget proposals and expense monitoring for projects handled.

• Liaise with R&D technicians/consultants/temp staff (leased) involved in the production of R&D products, evaluation of raw materials and prototypes, engineering activities related to the scale up of R&D product formulations and packages, global systems implementation, materials inventory and control

Requirements

Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree or B.S. in Engineering, such as and not limited to Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or any other Engineering related course. At least 7 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in food/pharmaceutical/beverage manufacturing industry in R&D, QA or production functions, with at least 5 years of those spent working in all aspects of process. Preferably with at least 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience as Process Engineer operating key process technologies related to food and beverage manufacturing such as liquid processing and spray drying. Experience in any one of aseptic process and packaging, membrane filtration and separation technologies, enzymatic and hydrolysis processes is an advantage. Experience in scoping and leading technology development programs with 3rd party technology providers or manufacturers. Demonstrated ability to scale lab processes to pilot and economically viable industrial scale manufacturing processes. Experience in trouble shooting related to key unit operations and processes in food manufacturing. Experience in dry powder blending, powder conveying is an advantage.
