A Research Engineer or Senior Research Engineer position is available at the SinBerBest2 Lab at the Berkeley Education and Research Alliance in Singapore (BEARS) to focus on the design of experiments utilizing an Infrared radiation camera in the pursuit of analysis of city-scale energy evaluation techniques. This set of experiments will focus on the deployment of a high resolution IR camera in different field-based settings around Singapore. This position will use unsupervised image recognition techniques to segment images in ways that enable automated analysis of large amounts of data. This position will focus on the extraction of energy and human behavior information for the purpose of optimizing the energy consumption in Singapore's building stock. This position will work as part of a team of researcher in Data Analytics for buildings. Duties & Responsibilities: Development of infrared radiation camera experimental procedures for various settings in Singapore Computer vision machine learning development Time-series and building energy and indoor environmental quality analysis Investigation of the policies and considerations for the deployment Development and writing of journal publications Minor roles in managing or mentoring colleagues as part of similar projectsQualifications: Skills in building performance analysis or simulation are required. Data analysis proficiency using open source tools such as Python, Pandas, R, Jupyter, and/or GitHub is required. Experience in the application of computer vision or machine learning to engineering analytics is required. Some proficiency in web technologies such as JavaScript and d3.js is required. The candidate should hold or being nearing completion of at least a Master's Degree with a focus in Computer/Data Science, Engineering, Project and Facilities Management, or Architecture.
