What the role is:The Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) which aims to pioneer innovation solutions and develop world class science and technology capabilities to transform and empower the Home Team in delivering safety and security for Singapore. As a Senior Research Scientist in the CBRNE COE, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the Centre of Expertise\'s capabilities in CBRNE threat surveillance and detection. You will collaborate with a team of CBRNE scientists to identify and develop innovative technologies that offer game-changing solutions and new capabilities.What you will be working on:

• Perform laboratory analysis and R&D studies for in-house development and Home Team Departments. \xe2\x80\xa2 Conduct horizon scanning to identify novel or useful technologies to develop game-changing solutions or new capabilities. \xe2\x80\xa2 Collaborate with counterparts, industry, and academia, both locally and internationally to develop, innovate new methodologies, practices, or products. \xe2\x80\xa2 Planning and resource management to ensure effective and efficient delivery of project milestones. \xe2\x80\xa2 Involved in external discussion with research collaborators/vendors on project implementation schedule and deliverables.

What we are looking for:

• Master\'s or Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or a related discipline, with a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant industry or research experience preferred. \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong background in molecular biology, in vitro assays, and next-generation diagnostics for viral and bacterial detection. \xe2\x80\xa2 Knowledge of computational biology software and programming languages is a plus. \xe2\x80\xa2 Proficient in laboratory techniques and project management. \xe2\x80\xa2 Proactive, meticulous, and detail-oriented in reviewing test results and reports. \xe2\x80\xa2 Independent worker and effective team player with cross-functional collaboration abilities. \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to communicate scientific and technical information clearly and effectively. \xe2\x80\xa2 Good problem-solving and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task efficiently. \xe2\x80\xa2 Supervisory experience would be an advantage. * All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
