Senior Scientist (Food Product Development)

The successful candidate will primarily be responsible to lead / conduct research and provide consultancy services related to Food Technology including method development, improvement studies and sensory analysis. He or she should demonstrate capabilities as a Program/Project Manager to provide technical direction and mentorship within the department as an expert in the area.

  • Lead centre\'s research activities in food technology and alternative proteins.
  • Conducts advanced research, and new product research and development of foods.
  • Assume technical responsibility for the development, validation, and implementation of projects
  • Prepare project reports, deduct significance of results and conclusions, and make presentations of findings to management as pertinent to complete assignments.
  • Execute applied research projects in food product and process development, sensory evaluation and scaling up of prototypes.
  • Liaise with multiple stakeholders and manage research projects and ensure all project deliverables are met.
  • Investigate different processing techniques and formulation approaches to optimize the sensory properties and nutritional profiles of food products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, external partners, suppliers and academic institutions to explore and integrate emerging technologies into the research and development processes.
  • Develop new and improved methods and systems for food processing, production, quality control, packaging, and distribution.
  • May specialize in particular branch of food technology and be identified according to branch of food technology, but have adequate knowledge about other branches.
  • Qualification in Food Technology/Food Processing/related areas with minimum 5 years of experience in the industry
  • Proven track record of leadership, working on industry-driven projects
  • Strong technical expertise and industry experience in food packaging and shelf-life studies will be an added advantage.
  • An innovative mindset in discovery, evaluation, and application of new technologies in food/process research and development.
  • Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated diplomacy in building strong relationships with different stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercising a moderate level of judgment in project execution.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Team-player who is also able to work independently.
  • Excellent understanding of R&D and operations in Food Technology.
