• Support the project team in the preparation, set-up and improvement of the project Health, Safety and Environmental system (Site HSE Plan, Emergency Preparedness & Response Plan, Construction Traffic Management Plan, etc.)
• Participate, review, and assist in the development of safety documentation e.g. Risk Assessments & Method Statements and Permit to Work.
• Provide competent, professional, and independent safety advice to the C&C/HSE Management personnel within the projects.
• Identify and develop initiatives to drive continuous improvement on projects.
• Develop materials and deliver relevant safety training to C&C/HSE Management personnel within the projects.
• Attend and pro-actively contribute to site inspections, toolbox talks & HSE campaigns.
• Participate in incident investigations to facilitate closure of identified actions and trains the teams on what a quality investigation looks like.
• Be a lead for culture change and drive behavioral safety within the projects.
• Identify gaps pertaining to HSE and suggest improvements based on experience and industry best practices.
• Coach the less experienced members of the team and drive a pipeline of talent within the business.
• Conduct periodic site HSE audits against the site-specific HSE plan and support the sites with developing action plans for closure of identified NCRs.
• Be an ambassador for the Hitachi Energy We Care behavioral safety program by providing coaching and support to site personnel.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment towards environmental standards, guidelines, and procedures.
• Inform on/verify adherence to site specific environmental protection measures (e.g., waste management, wildlife protection, use/handling of substances hazardous to environment)
