Brief Description of Organization

Citi, the leading global financial services company, has some 200 million customer accounts and does business in more than 100 countries, providing consumers, corporations, governments and institutions with a broad range of financial products and services, including consumer banking and credit, corporate and investment banking, securities brokerage, and wealth management.

Markets and Securities Services (M&SS) Legal support all of Citi\'s global M&SS businesses as a single, unified department. Hong Kong, Singapore and Mumbai serve as hubs for various legal M&SS teams in APAC. The team provides legal advisory and documentation support for fixed income, currency, rates, derivatives, commodities, futures & clearing, prime finance, equities sales and trading businesses, credit and loan trading, structured products and solutions businesses.



The APAC M&SS legal team is looking for a lawyer to provide legal support to Citi\'s APAC (i) Multi-Asset Group (MAG) structuring and sales teams, (ii) Futures, OTC Clearing and FXPB (FCX) and (iii) Markets E-Commerce businesses. This person will report to the senior product lawyer for these products and be a member of the Equities legal team within APAC M&SS legal. The person should have extensive experience and familiarity with at least one of the listed businesses, preferably MAG. The role will be in Singapore.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advisory services to the APAC MAG, FCX and E-commerce businesses on day to day issues and strategic projects, including the launch of new products and services (e.g. new structures, exchange memberships, client documentation) and regulatory issues.
• Instruct, supervise and manage external counsel and junior members of the team.
• Resolve complex issues and escalating where appropriate.
• Continuously stay informed of regulatory changes, new regulations, internal policy changes and developments in the law.
• Appropriately assess risk during the business decision making process, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm\'s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

• 10 years of relevant experience in the financial industry or a law firm (lesser number of years may be considered if experiences are relevant)
• Fluency in spoken Mandarin and written Chinese would be an advantage
• Extensive experience and familiarity with one or more coverage areas a plus
• Law degree from an established university
• Membership of local Bar or Lawyers Association
• Proven analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and interact with people of all levels and across regions.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
