What the role is:
MTI's Energy and Carbon (E&C) Cluster leads initiatives to reduce emissions and drive the transition to a low-carbon power and industry sector. This would be key for us to continue growing Singapore's economic headroom as well. Officers working within E&C are tasked to develop carbon markets, plan energy infrastructure, develop low-carbon energy sources, and manage emission trajectories and carbon budgets. You will collaborate with various stakeholders to support sustainable economic transformation and green growth through international trade and industry partnerships. The New Energies team sits within the E&C Cluster, and takes the lead in: o Developing, implementing and monitoring various alternative energy sources for Singapore, including solar, hydrogen in its various forms, bioenergy, advanced geothermal and advanced nuclear, as well as other promising low-carbon technologies. o Devising new policies to ensure that new energy solutions can be productively deployed and scaled sufficiently to help meet our 2050 net zero goals. o Overseeing issues relating to energy and industry decarbonisation Research & Development in Singapore. This could also entail the development of new climate technology pilot funding scheme, working directly with global climate tech solution providers, academics, and investors.
