About Department of Urology

Department of Urology focuses on the delivery of specialised medical and surgical care in all major aspects of urology. We constantly engage in research and development to enhance our expertise in the field of urological cancers, kidney transplants, treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), management of urinary stone conditions and male sexual dysfunction. Our research programme is complemented by equipment which allow patients with complex conditions to be treated with technologies such as minimally invasive robotic surgery, transurethral needle ablative procedures and flexible ureteroscopy. The Urology Centre, located in the NUH Medical Centre, performs both outpatient diagnostic and interventional procedures.\xe2\x80\x8b

Department of Urology is seeking candidates who are accomplished and highly motivated to join us for a challenging and fulfilling appointment as a Senior/Consultant.

Job Responsibilities

• You are required to carry out your duties as directed by the Head of Department in accordance with the policies and guidelines set by the Hospital, National University Hospital (NUH) and the Ministry of Health (MOH).
• Besides being responsible for patient care, you, as a senior officer are expected to provide leadership to all levels of staff, including teaching, training and research.
• Where serious or major clinical situations occur which would affect the well-being or lives of the patients, the Head of Department should be informed and consulted at the earliest opportunity.
• You should demonstrate good technical skills including operative and procedural skills.
• You should demonstrate your sub-specialty skills and attract referrals in your sub-specialty areas.
• You are required to demonstrate expert knowledge in area of specialty and expertise in managing complex medical problems and complications.
• You should look to improve standards of clinical practice in your area of specialty and introduce new treatments and procedures.
• You should establish the scope of human subject research activities in your area of technical expertise and collaborate with cross-disciplinary clinical or scientific partners where appropriate.
• You must ensure your commitment to the conduct of research ethics and manage any conflict of interest.
• You should be prepared to perform the duties of the next lower grade if necessary.

Job Requirements

To qualify for this role, you are required to:

• Possess one of the following post graduate medical qualifications that is registrable with the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) American Board of Urology
• Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS)
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS)
• Have completed specialty training in Urology.

Candidates who have prior experience in Urology Oncology and Robotic Surgery are preferred.
