Entity and activity description

The Accountant, ALAM APAC plays a pivotal and vital role in establishing and building a solid foundation of the financial accounting domain of ALAM APAC. This position requires strong leadership and technical knowledge to collaborate and lead the BSC Finance to ensure the timely and accurate financial reporting to ALAM Global, as well as fulfillment of local regulations such as audit and taxation. It also requires the ability to monitor and ensure the smoothness of the daily finance operations. On top of that, this position also offers an opportunity for the accountant to be exposed to the operations control domain in forecasting, budgeting and controlling related activities.
This position reports to ALAM APAC Operations Controller and works closely with the ALAM APAC Finance Managers (ALAM Singapore, ALAM Korea and AL MIST) and ALAM Global Finance Team.
Missions and Responsibilities

Accountancy

  • Oversee and lead the BSC Finance team in the preparation of the financial statements in order to ensure timely, accurate month-end closing and financial reporting to ALAM Global.
  • Organize and monitor daily finance operations performed by the BSC Finance such as customers’ debt collection, suppliers’ payment, employees’ reimbursements, inventory management, etc.
  • Conduct regular reviews of balance sheet, bank and intercompany reconciliations and related activities with the BSC Finance team.
  • Ensure compliance of the accounting standards (IFRS and Air Liquide Bluebook) of the financial statements.
  • Coordinate and liaise with external parties such as external auditors, tax agents, corporate secretarial agents, local tax and government authorities where required, in order to ensure compliance with all local regulations.

Financial Analysis
  • Support the ALAM APAC, Operations Controller in forecasting and budgeting exercise as per the Air Liquide Group and ALAM Global guidelines
  • Assist the ALAM APAC, Operations Controller in the analysis and review of costs with cost center owners against forecast and budget, providing sound advice and therefore improving the cost control position of the cost center.
  • Participate in the monthly operations control reporting activities such as IRIS and Flash Comments.

Others
  • Spearhead process improvement initiatives to identify and eliminate non-value added finance processes through the digitization and automation of the finance process using information technology tools.

Additional information
  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative discipline (Accounting, Finance, or a related field)
  • 3+ years of experience in auditing/accounting/financial experience
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with all levels of management/organization
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team player as well as displayed leadership qualities to lead the team.
  • Solid work ethic, self-driven with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Expert in Google Sheets and Google Slides
  • Knowledge of SAP and its financial reporting capabilities is a plus
