Focal point for all Shallow Water Engineering execution and operations planning.
Technical support may be required during any of the following operations:

  • EPC Project Execution
  • Operations Planning and Execution
  • Life of Field Activities

The Shallow Water Life of Field Engineer is the link between field operations and technical deliverables from the tender, EPC project, product, and systems engineering, teams.


Job description
Main Accountabilities:
  • Develop, review and/or approve engineering documents, including layout drawings, spare parts lists, test procedures, installation & commissioning procedures, preservation storage, and maintenance procedures.
  • Investigation, disposition, and approval of Service or Quality Notifications, including root cause analysis and ensuring preventive actions are implemented where required. May review dispositions of other engineers.
  • Develop and lead solutions to field problems by gathering, analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating data. Anticipate potential problems and implement preventive actions accordingly.
  • Review and Approve ECN (Engineering Change Notices) as required to implement equipment design or procedural modifications, based on lessons learned.
  • Lead and provide on-site technical support to workshop and fabricators operations
  • Initiate and lead offshore after-action reviews to gather lessons learned related to onshore testing, and fabrication and implement actions as required.
  • Provide input to and lead improvements to processes or local work instructions that will improve the overall operations of the Engineering department.
  • Attend and participate in product design reviews to provide input based on field application.
  • Proactively participate in HSE initiatives and standards including Start Stops, JSAs, and Risk Assessments.
  • Responsible for high quality and on-time delivery of assigned deliverables.
  • Write/Review the content of subsea system Rig Books.
  • Evaluate and confirm offshore-related equipment interfaces, including participating in rig or vessel survey visits as required.
  • Provide immediate technical support to service base activities (equipment readiness, mobilization testing, refurbishment activities, etc.)
  • Support technical scope to service base related quotations
  • Ensure good personal time management and weekly time entry into the SAP system.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to other engineers
  • Plan schedule assigned project activities
  • Submit regular status updates to the supervisor
  • Assist and implement a department training program
  • Assist in cost estimation (CTR support)
  • Attend appropriate industry-related professional society meetings and functions to stay informed, influence, and make good new technologies, products, and personal development opportunities.

You are meant for this job if
  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • 8+ years of relevant industry experience. Prior offshore experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Specialist knowledge of at least three TechnipFMC or related subsea product lines or significant knowledge of multiple technologies, products, and applications.
  • Good understanding of engineering practices, design methods, and calculations.
  • Good knowledge of industry-standard recommended practices and specifications.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead a team (motivating, planning, negotiating, and interpersonal communication skills) within a diverse team environment.
  • Good understanding of economic factors (cost, margin, profit impact of decisions) affecting assignment areas.
  • Ability to read, interpret, & prepare applicable technical information& suggest design or process changes ensure simple, functional, & cost-effective results.
  • Customer-oriented attitude and the initiative and ability to work independently and work under pressure with no supervision.
  • Outstanding organization, project planning, and communication skills (minimum Customer level).
  • Obtained minimum TCE Approver status.
  • Flexible to relocate to remote and non-remote locations and travel frequently for extended periods of time in a field environment (5-35 day periods).
  • Good PC skills (word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software).
  • Fluent in written and spoken English

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office Environment, Workshop, and offshore
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Describe general working conditions (i.e. noise level, temperature, around heavy machinery)
Spend 80% time in an office environment and 20% in a workshop or field environment including service base operations, and offshore vessels.
May be exposed to possible hazards including pressure testing, high noise, electrical testing, heavy material lifting, and movement.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Describe the amount & frequency of physical requirements of the position (i.e. lifting, pushing, climbing)
Physical demands will include sitting & operating a computer while in the office. The shop or field environment will include hands-on labor & fast-paced atmosphere with multiple and changing priorities. The candidate must be physically capable of passing the offshore physical medical check and obtaining a BOSIET Certification.
Periodically require to be available 24x7 by phone to support urgent field requirements.
