Job Description

What the role is:

This is a one year contract position.

What you will be working on:

You will assist in the Commission\'s administration and enforcement of the Competition Act against cartels, dominant companies that abuse their position and mergers which substantially lessen competition. You will also be involved in the administration and enforcement of the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act and play an important role to protect the interests of consumers and ensure fair trading practices by businesses in Singapore. You might participate in dawn raids, gather field intelligence, assess notifications, conduct investigations and interviews, work on policy and law reform matters relating to competition law and consumer protection law, and represent the Commission in the Courts and Tribunals, as required. You will also be part of the Commission\'s team of in-house lawyers, working on policy matters and initiatives, providing legal advice on wide-ranging issues, and assisting to vet and draft contracts. Appointment and remuneration will be based on relevant experience and post-qualification experience (\xe2\x80\x9cPQE\xe2\x80\x9d).

What we are looking for:

• A recognized law degree, called to the Singapore Bar with at least 2-3 years PQE \xe2\x80\xa2 Applicants with no experience but have keen interest in Competition Law and Consumer Protection Law are welcome to apply \xe2\x80\xa2 Enforcement, Investigation, Economics background will be an advantage \xe2\x80\xa2 Analytical, independent and self-motivated \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills

About Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore:

The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (\xe2\x80\x9cCCCS\xe2\x80\x9d) administers and enforces the Competition Act (Cap. 50B) which empowers CCCS to investigate and adjudicate anti-competitive activities, issue directions to stop and/or prevent anti-competitive activities and impose financial penalties. CCCS is also the administering agency of the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act (Cap. 52A) or CPFTA which protects consumers against unfair trade practices in Singapore.
