Job Description

SAMH SAY-IT! (Sports, Arts, Youth Integrated Team) provides assessment and invention for youths and engages youths for ongoing monitoring and support. YIT also works actively with youth agencies, schools and community partners to provide holistic case management for youths and their families.





The successful candidate will be responsible to:


Promote youth mental health awareness to youth and their circle of support Organise group activities for in-centre youth Conduct mental health screening of youth and provide client management support Build rapport and provide basic emotional support to the youth and their caregivers, whenever needed Update database timely, monitor outputs and generate reports Supervise and manage volunteers




Outreach



Promote youth mental health awareness through social media engagement, talks, workshops, roadshows and campaigns Customise and design suitable outreach events based on the needs of the youth and partners Create social media posts to reach out to youth in the community and bring awareness about CREST-Youth services Coordinate between different internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth running of events such as volunteers, youth mentees, partners, SAMH youth centres and HQ Develop long-term partnership with organisations with common interest in supporting youth mental wellness, especially those residing in our region

Client Management



Conduct mental health screening with youth who are referred or self-referred to CREST-Youth services for support. Build rapport with youth and create a safe environment for youth to share more about themselves Identify different levels of distress and the underlying issues that youth are facing so as to provide them with relevant resources and service linkage, if required. Identify any self-harm/ suicide risks and discuss safety plan with youth to ensure safety. Reach out to those who are in the circle of support for the youth such as parents, teachers, counsellors, psychiatrists etc to gain a better understanding of the youth, if required. Provide basic emotional support to youth through text, phone calls, face-to-face or online sessions especially those who are going through emotional and psychological difficulties. Work closely with families, schools, hospitals, teams in SAMH and other agencies in the best interest of the youth Participate in internal, as well as external case conference with community agencies, such as hospitals, schools and social service agencies as needed Conduct visits to school, home or hospital, when required Monitor youth according to their risk level adhering to programme guidelines Provide crisis management or after office hour support to the youth, whenever required and inform supervisor promptly Provide psychoeducation, service linkage and emotional support to youth caregivers whenever required and/or refer them for intervention, whenever necessary

Group Activities for In-centre Youth



Design, plan and facilitate group activities for in-centre youth Work closely with volunteers and mentees to conduct workshops for youth Collaborate with other youth centres to organise events for youth Invite youth to participate in the workshops organised Accompany youth and their caregivers for external events to ensure their safety and well-being. Inform supervisor of any critical situations involving conflict, violence and other emergencies to seek support promptly

Client-related Administration



Update database, attendance, client log sheets and file any clinical documents timely Administer relevant surveys to youth and caregivers, and ensure proper documentation Ability to provide update regarding youth whenever required

Operations



Manage day-to-day operations of centre (e.g. opening and closing of centre, stock-taking, maintaining walk-in area and displays, overall crowd control) Handle general enquiries through text, phone call, email and visits to the centre Coordinate and design monthly programme calendar Report and follow up on any faulty equipments or furniture promptly to ensure smooth operation of the centre Ensure maintenance of premises and property Assist in annual report and statistics collation when required Manage centre administration, whenever required

Other Duties



To work on ad-hoc SAMH projects, community outreach programmes and events, when required To carry out any other duties assigned by Management


Requirements:



Diploma in Social Work, Counselling or Psychology preferred or Health & Management, Community Services and Dance etc Experience working in Social Service Agencies, especially youth work will have an added advantage Experience with and having skills in the arts (visual arts, music, drama, dance and/or sports will be an added advantage Fresh graduates are welcome Motivated, energetic, enthusiastic and passionate to serve youths Insightful and reflective Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint Willing to learn, adapt and improve oneself * Able to work independently as well as in a team
