MC was incorporated on 13 October 2011 as a charity to provide multiple social and welfare services to the community at large, and achieved an Institute of Public Character (IPC) status on 18 November 2011.

MC is the charitable arm of Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society, which lives by the mission - To Serve Mankind - to help anyone who needs help regardless of their race, religion, colour, language, creed and culture.

MC today serves more than 70,000 beneficiaries through more than 70 programmes across five Services, which include Disability, Early Intervention for Children, Family, Seniors' Community, and Therapy.







DESIGNATION : Social Worker - Family Service Centre @ Bedok North



RESPONSIBILITIES

Casework - Engagement & Assessment

Engage client and significant others (e.g. family, caregivers, etc.) in a therapeutic manner to understand their needs Manage and overcome reluctance and resistance to change

Casework - Case Review & Documentations

Implement and follow up on care/ case plans and interventions to determine the suitability of care/ case plans in addressing client's needs and modify them where necessary Draft social reports for complex cases to be reviewed by supervisor

Casework - Goal Setting & Intervention Plans

Conceptualise and identify appropriate approaches to develop care/ case plan for client Help clients to develop and choose strategies and formulate viable plans Represent case in case conference

Group Work

Target and reach out to individuals and/ or targeted groups who may benefit from group work conducted by organisations/ agencies Plan, implement, monitor, evaluate and modify therapeutic group work to address issues of target groups Facilitate high risk therapeutic group work under supervision

Community Work

Conduct environmental scans and assess community needs Design, develop and implement community-specific development programmes (e.g. aging community in a specific neighbourhood) Participate in community development initiatives and provide recommendations for consideration

Professional Development & Education

Engage in learning opportunities (e.g. participate in community of practice meetings to develop skills and capabilities) Attend professional development courses to acquire professional knowledge and skills

Programme Development & Implementation

Participate/ implement programmes (e.g. strengthening activities appropriate to clients' profile) Review and refine programmes to target client groups or other stakeholders/ partners/ agencies Identify service gaps in response to client needs and make recommendations to improve service provision of programmes

Research

Participate and support research Engage in multi-disciplinary team research projects








QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree majoring in Social Work from universities recognised by the Social Work Accreditation and Advisory Board (SWAAB) of Singapore Independent, creative, flexible thinking and able to motivate staff Good people skills Has strong understanding of the diverse cultures and race Has patience, love, passion and commitment in the family services

Family Service Centres (FSCs) have played a pivotal role as essential community hubs, offering social services to families grappling with psycho-social challenges. Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities currently manages five FSCs strategically located in Jurong West, Bukit Panjang, Tanjong Pagar, MacPherson and Bedok North.
