• In line with Singapore's Smart Nation initiative, TUV SUD setup a global Center of Excellence (CoE) Digital Service in Singapore to drive the development of new services and businesses in our customers' sectors and future markets.
• For our strategic development of smart automation, we are currently looking for a highly skilled automation engineer to drive service development addressing the challenges of connected digital manufacturing. We offer the unique opportunity to work with world leaders at the forefront of smart automation systems, shaping next generation smart factories. The team of the CoE embodies the spirit of a dynamic 'start-up' environment but backed with reliability and strength of an MNC.
• Position Summary
• The Centre of Excellence Singapore is the main hub for TUV SUD's international digital initiatives. One of our rapidly growing strategic segments is smart automation. The successful candidate will take a key role in the development of novel tools and services for data driven and continuous analysis, testing, and certification of smart manufacturing systems.
• Robotic technology is already pervasive in the current manufacturing landscape. However, the advent of the 4th Industrial revolution has dramatically changed how automation technology is integrated in the manufacturing environment. Smart sensors and complex controllers, often based on machine learning techniques, are enabling new levels of automation. Robots are leaving their enclosed and secured work cells, widening their job scope from manufacturing to service sectors such as healthcare and hospitality.
• Given this increase in system complexity, novel tools are needed to guarantee safety, security, reliability and interoperability. The successful candidate will shape this vision, defining the benchmarks for the next generation of connected and integrated automation technology. • Key Responsibilities
• - Lead developer of new services for connected automation systems
• - Hands on software development and hardware integration where necessary
• - Draft design documents, requirements and guidelines
• - Liaise with internal and external business stakeholders
• - Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to team members
• - Project management and reporting
• - Manage the interface between customers and the internal development team

• Key Requirements
• - MS or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics or comparable qualification
• - More than 3 years of relevant work experience in industry or academia programming robots
• - Hands on experience designing and using automation technology (e.g. robotics)
• - Strong in system modeling and abstract thinking
• - Practical software engineering experience with C++, Python and ROS in a Linux or Unix environment
• - Experience in software testing and system validation
• - Strong project management experience
• - Team player with ability to work in international and multi-cultural teams
• - Strong communications skills, fluent in English (oral and written)
• - Highly motivated to perform applied research and bring solutions to the market

• - Knowledge on Industry 4.0 related technologies and standards
• - Experience in risk assessment
• - Experience with simulation and 3D tools and libraries (Gazebo, OpenCV, Cuda)
