Job Title: Special Education Needs (SEN) Officer
Contract Period:
1 January 2026 to 31 May 2026 (5 months)
1 July 2026 to 30 November 2026 (5 months)
Working Hours
Mondays to Fridays: 7:00am to 4:00pm, inclusive of 1-hour lunch break.
Rest Days: Services are not required on Saturdays, Sundays, gazetted school holidays, and public holidays.
Scope of Services
The SEN Officer will support students with special educational needs through intervention, consultation, and collaboration with staff and parents. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Student Support & Remediation
Provide withdrawal support and specialized remediation based on learner profiles.
Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to support learning and behavioral goals.
Conduct skills training (e.g., organizational skills, managing emotions, coping with changes, queuing, handwriting skills).
Provide one-on-one or small group interventions for specific learning or behavioral needs. In-Class Support
Prompt and guide students to stay focused, attend to tasks, and participate in classroom activities.
Assist students in following classroom routines and expectations.
Support students in understanding lesson content using visual prompts, differentiated materials, or alternative strategies.
Withdraw students for time-out during periods of distress and support regulation to return to learning.
Help communicate student needs to teachers and support planning of accommodations. Collaboration & Consultation
Provide consultation to teachers and parents to enhance understanding and support strategies.
Collaborate with external agencies, professionals, and special schools involved in student support.
Coordinate, participate, and contribute to case conferences and review meetings. Resources, Environment & Records
Prepare learning resources (e.g., visual prompts for ASD, differentiated worksheets for dyslexia).
Set up and maintain special needs-friendly learning spaces.
Conduct and administer progress monitoring tools.
Set up and maintain records of SEN students.
Conduct pre-orientation for students with ASD transitioning through environmental changes (e.g., classroom or teacher changes). Peer Support
Facilitate peer training initiatives such as circles of friends or social support systems.
Qualifications and Skills
The personnel should preferably possess:
Diploma in Special Education or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years of experience supporting students with/suspected of SEN in MOE mainstream schools.
3 years of experience conducting School-based Dyslexia Remediation (SDR).
