About the role
We are looking for a Specialist Sales - Iron Ore, to support the execution of Simandou sales and marketing strategy. This is a great opportunity to join our Sales and Marketing in Iron Ore.
Sales and Marketing Iron Ore manages the sales and placement decisions for our iron ore assets, and to maximise the value for the portfolio. This includes joint venture management with our partners and observe best in class commercial practices.
This role is a great opportunity for someone who loves and thrives in delivering strong commercial outcomes in close collaboration with different stakeholders from operations, customer engagement teams, pricing, finance and other support functions.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Sales & Marketing, you will:
Support the placement of Simandou volumes across all sales channels.
Execute spot sales and implement placement strategies.
Collaborate with the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) team to identify optimal placement opportunities, operational efficiencies, and logistics solutions, including:
Identifying problem statements and conducting value trade-off analyses.
Developing recommendations and presenting solutions to senior management in close coordination with S&OP stakeholders.
Preparing financial analyses to address supply and demand challenges.
Leading ad-hoc analytical initiatives with subject matter experts to assess value at stake and align with strategic priorities.
Designing and maintaining dashboards to track key performance indicators.
Define contracting and pricing strategies, leveraging existing best practices.
Ensure adherence to sales and marketing governance protocols.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Provide market intelligence and insights to support management decision-making.
Comply with applicable laws, Rio Tinto's "The Way We Work," and other corporate policies and standards.
Complete mandatory compliance training as required.
Promptly report any compliance concerns, issues, or incidents.
Undertake compliance training in accordance with requirements; and
Report compliance concerns, issues and incidents.
What you will need for the role
To succeed in this role, you will have:
Relevant tertiary qualifications.
At least 5 years of relevant and progressive commercial experience, with relevant focus in sales and marketing.
Solid understanding of market fundamentals.
Track record in meeting and exceeding performance targets.
Demonstrated experience in working through a networked organisation to achieve results.
Detailed knowledge of the iron ore market including pricing, competitor products, major customers and key stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Can-do attitude and a self-starter.
Strong command of English and Mandarin language, verbal and written.
