Job Description

TE Connectivity’s Engineering Project Management Teams manage cross functional engineering projects. They work with Product Management, Sales, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, and other functions across TE to assure projects meet financial, schedule and customer expectations. They are responsible for defining and creating project schedules, portfolio management, communication and execution of programs, identifying resource constraints and working with management for resolution, while adhering to LeanPD processes.
TE’s Corporate Technology Center is a corporate function that performs research and innovation projects to impact TE BU products and operations. The Singapore CTC group is chartered to perform collaborative research with corporate partners, research institutes or university partners, and we are looking for an experienced individual to join us. The ideal candidate is trained in technical R&D, and experienced in corporate R&D project planning and execution. He/she will be working with TE BUs, CTC and external partners on a broad range of technology needs, in areas that include defining business/technical objectives, technical scope of work, source for appropriate partners, and lead external teams to achieve set technical & business objectives. He/she will also administer collaboration contracts and project budgets.

Job Responsibilities

• Innovation:
  • Engage TE BUs, management and stakeholders to define collaboration opportunities addressing BU technology needs. Follow up with technology reviews to develop initial project charters outlining proposed objectives and scope-of-work.
  • Scout and source suitable research partners and work to solicit and evaluate technical and commercial merits of research / service contracts received.
  • Direct partners on execution plans that keep to TE objectives and milestones. Conduct regular technical reviews to capture technical progress. Assess technical, schedule and resource risks and work to resolve as they arise.
  • Generate technical documents such as project progress reviews, patent disclosures, conference manuscripts, and presentation to TE’s technical and business persons/audience.
  • Stay abreast of global technology developments through technology surveys, conferences and partner site visits.
• Project Management:
  • Conducts work in compliance with TE’s stage-gate framework. Act as liaison for project matters.
  • Demonstrates use of best practices (e.g. situational assessment, root-cause-analysis, action plans) and effective verbal/written communication in directing teams to successfully identify and resolve bottlenecks
  • Maintains documentation of project charter, technology review and project update files, throughout projects’ lifecycles.
  • Administers budget, legal and procurement matters, as needed (TE Project, supplier setup, NDAs, partnership agreements etc.)
• Team management
  • May be tasked with responsibilities of strategic nature, and/or manage interns / junior professional staff.

Job Requirements

• Ph.D. or Masters in Engineering or Science, with at least 5-8 years work experience involving design, materials and manufacturing process development. PMP certification can be advantageous.
• Experience in defining research project, leading in project planning and subsequent execution. Experience in managing cross-functional technical teams through stage-gate framework, with demonstrated technical and business impact.
• Communicative, ability to multitask, comfort with new technical topics, interacting with upper management and making holistic decisions. Can efficiently evaluate, prioritize, and adapt to multiple programs/projects.
• Comfortable with work in new technical domain.
• Comfortable presenting to higher management levels.
• Able to travel 15 – 30% locally, and overseas occasionally.
