Job Description

:


1. The SWEO shall report to the school's Head of Department of Student Development & School Leaders.


2. Officer will work closely with students, school staff, and liaise with external agencies to provide timely support for at-risk students and promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing positive school culture.


Assist to identify, support and monitor at-risk students with social, emotional or behavioural or attendance concerns. Work closely with key personnels (e.g. Year Heads, Form Teachers, School Counsellors, Social Welfare Officer etc to develop appropriate intervention plans) Provide case support including home visits where appropriate to support student development. Maintain accurate case notes & documentation for student support and engagement efforts, ensuring confidentiality and assist in the reporting and evaluation process. Support After-School Engagement (ASE) programmes for identified high needs students. ASE programmes include, but are not limited to:
a. Academic Support Programmes


b. Mentoring Programmes


c. Interest-based Experiential Elective Programmes


Monitor students' attendance in the ASE programmes and document observations as feedback for teachers. Assist staff with follow up with parents/guardians of absent students. Work closely with Student Development Department staff, form teachers and subject teachers to understand the students' profiles and needs to better engage and support the students. Engage and manage students during recess, lunch and after-school hours daily to help maintain noise level, orderliness and discipline at all times. Regular walkabout to maintain positive discipline through observation, mingling and mentoring to build rapport. Provide social, emotional and basic academic support as part of re-integration for students returning to school after long term absences. Plan for and carry out activities during the school holidays (March, June, September and November/December) to engage the high needs students. Engage in regular patrolling outside school area to ensure safety and discipline of the students to infuse positive community culture. Assist staff in managing and following-up on disicpline cases (e.g. viewing of surveillance camera footage, after school detention etc...) Other duties
a. Any other duties as assigned by School Leaders, HOD Student Development, or Administration Manager.


b. Maintain orderliness of the classrooms and facilities used for ASE programmes.





Qualifications:


Should have Diploma in counselling or social work or some experience in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, Community Development experience, or related field


Must have at least 2 years of working experience in student welfare, social services, or community work (experience in school settings is an advantage) Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage students, staff and families (if appropriate) from diverse backgrounds Able to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment Knowledge of child protection policies, basic counseling techniques, and case management processes is preferred Passion and disposition to work with at-risk students Empathy for students with social, emotional and mental health difficulties * To be proactive and possess good working attitude and be willing to learn and take up new challenges
