You will experience high levels of ownership and empowerment in your role.JOB DESCRIPTIONA Learning Area Leader provides strategic leadership and vision for the department to align with the school's overall mission and values. They lead and mentor the teachers in the department, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth. Learning Area Leaders will teach their subjects or disciplines as required.ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIESIn addition to the expectations specified in the Subject / Specialist Teacher , a Learning Area Leader ensures effective pedagogy across the area. They:Develop and maintain a collegial and supportive culture in the curriculum area that encourages innovationContribute to the development of whole school strategic planning and lead the vision for the curriculum areaDevelop, curate and communicate the written, taught and assessed curriculum and ensure these comply with awarding bodies practicesEnsure learners receive timely and meaningful feedback and track progress effectivelyLead the development of subject area goals and individual goals through the Teacher Professional Enhancement process (TPE)Effectively manage delegated budgets and assets and plan to meet curriculum resource needsEngage in new staff appointments and recommend appropriate staffing for each course as part of the timetable processSupport and evaluate quality of teaching in the subject and address professional learning needsUse restorative practice to ensure good classroom behaviourEstablish effective working relationships with colleagues and parentsEmpower children to be reflective and independent learners.Participate in all aspects of school life and support holistic education.To perform any other duties as assigned by the management, stakeholders and reporting managerQUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLSA recognised teaching qualificationBachelor's degree (or higher qualification) in Education, Arts or a related fieldEvidence of continued relevant professional developmentExperience working with bilingual and multilingual learners and learners with diverse needsAt least 2 years of relevant experience in an international school environment where the school curriculum focused on PYP, MYP, IGCSE or IBDPCoaching accreditation (preferred)Previous leadership experience in a school setting is highly desirableNexus International School (Singapore) is committed to the safety and wellbeing of our children and families.
