About the Department
The Data Management Office and Big Data Analytics function answers the demand for quality and credible data across the Group.
Data Management Office
We govern the use of data across the Group and provide guidance for data management and usage. This optimises the value of data to enable smarter, faster and more accurate decision-making as well as improve operational efficiency. Above all, we ensure adherence to all data governance standards as determined by regulators.
Big Data Analytics
We are a centralised analytics function that supports Group-wide business units and their analytical needs. We aim to establish ourselves as an analytics centre of excellence and drive analytics adoption and the utilisation of new big data technology across the Group. Our key areas of service range from business intelligence, strategic analytics to data science.
The role is a key member of the Enterprise Data Delivery & Monetisation (EDDM) team and helps to raise awareness of data governance and quality best practices across the businesses and functions in Group Wholesale Banking, identifying critical data governance and quality pain points and collaborating effectively to improve the overall data governance maturity. The role also supports the Head of Enterprise Data Governance and Quality (EDGQ) in accelerating data governance and quality adoption across Line 1 business teams.

Job Responsibilities

  • Actively support bank-wide data governance strategy and enforcement of the data governance framework, policy and procedures in Group Wholesale businesses, and in line with the Bank\'s business objectives and evolving industry practices
  • Build strong relationships with Group Wholesale business leaders to deliver Line 1 data governance and quality outcomes. Be a trusted advisor to Group Wholesale business units
  • Spearhead regional-level data governance and quality adoption within Group Wholesale by co-ordinating and driving the implementation of data governance initiatives and capabilities to the data consumers and end users. Initiatives will include, and not limited to:
  • Co-ordinating the rollout of enterprise data governance programs, such as identification of Critical Data Elements (CDEs) within Group Wholesale domain, as well as key operational processes and stakeholders supporting CDEs
  • Facilitating effective operationalisation of data access governance best practices within Group Wholesale domain
  • Cascading enterprise-wide data governance related communications, data literacy and stewardship trainings to the relevant Group Wholesale stakeholders, in line with the Bank\'s business objectives and evolving industry practices
  • Supporting strategic data quality remediations and improvements by liaising with key stakeholders in the Group Wholesale team, such as the COO office, business risk and control management teams, etc
  • Building the operating model, capabilities and processes to continuously assess, measure and improve the state of data governance and quality across the Group Wholesale domain
  • Collaborate effectively with key data consumers in Group Wholesale Banking as well as data analysts and data scientists from DMO in proactively identifying data governance and quality challenges. Collaborate effectively with EDGQ team leads in the delivery of data governance expertise to resolve the challenges identified
  • Perform periodic reporting on Group Wholesale related data governance and quality initiatives, including strategic plans, metrics and key issues, to relevant Management Committees and senior stakeholders from the business units
  • Understand the relevant end-to-end data landscape, including systems, business processes and data flows to support data governance reviews and assessments; co-ordinate in the development and enhancement of supporting documentation
  • Be an agent of change and inculcate data governance culture and discipline across the Bank\'s business and technical processes as well as across diverse stakeholders within the business to improve Line 1 data governance ownership
Job Requirements
  • Background of data governance and/or data management, data quality, risk management, technology or business operations, with at least 12-15 years of working experience in the banking industry or equivalent, or consulting/auditing experience with strong exposure to Financial Services
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and good experience of managing senior decision makers
  • Effective influencing and persuasion skills, with an ability to obtain consensus at a senior management level
  • Good understanding of banking products and processes from an operational, business and data standpoint, especially with regards to wholesale/corporate banking
  • Highly skilled in creative problem solving, comfortable with handling ambiguous situations and navigating conflicts with ease
  • Advanced project management, interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage different stakeholders across the Bank
  • Demonstrated ability in spearheading complex bank-wide initiatives, as well as working with regional stakeholders
