Finance Department

Finance Department (FD) is responsible for financial management of the GIC group. We ensure financial stewardship and reporting for the GIC group, and act as Finance Business Partners to optimize corporate financial planning and the use of operating budgets for growth and sustainability. We harness data and technology to create insights for financial decision-making and achieve excellence in financial operations.

We are looking for a suitable candidate to join the Finance Business Partnering team with the Finance Department. As a member of the Finance Business Partnering team, your responsibility includes financial performance management, stakeholder partnership and advisory, driving excellence in deployment of resources, strategic benchmarking, business appraisal and budget planning for the various departments/functions of the GIC Group.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of finance business partners to support the Public Market portfolio business to drive strategic business goals and achieve long-term financial performance
  • Be the focal point of contact to business operations and work closely alongside business operations to solve business challenges
  • Provide meaningful financial insights through periodic financial reporting and analysis to steer business performance and manage costs. Synthesize information, uncover trends and deliver insights to improve decision making
  • Support the efficient and effective deployment of resources to optimize business outcomes
  • Participate in business discussion, acquire good in-depth understanding of the business challenges and support decision making through meaningful financial information and results from modelling exercises
  • Strong working knowledge and application of business FP&A, controls, processes and application of corporate policies and procedures to guide the business
  • Lead initiatives to design, transform and innovate planning, reporting and analysis processes to continuously improve the speed and quality of the financial insights provided to the business
  • Lead budget planning, forecasting, monitoring of cost targets, benchmarking and appraisal analysis
  • Lead peer benchmarking function to provide relevant, meaningful data points to drive better decision making and improvements within GIC
  • Assess peer benchmarking results with business performance, identify improvement opportunities and work with the business to achieve them
  • Maintain network with selected peer group functions to keep abreast of latest developments and share knowledge and best practices where possible.
Requirements
  • Degree in Finance and Accounting
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in finance with a bias towards Finance business partnering roles, coupled with FP&A and controllership experience
  • Experience in the fund/asset management industry will be advantageous
  • Sound understanding of the investment business and financial markets will be advantageous
  • Experience in leading a team and working alongside senior stakeholders in the investment portfolio business operations to drive business financial performance
  • Significant experience with executive-level consultations. This requires skills in fact-based analysis, synthesis, presentation, and strong interpersonal interaction
  • Strong leadership, influencing, problem solving, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Communicates in a clear, succinct, organized and convincing manner verbally and in writing
  • Experience in performing benchmarking studies and interpreting the results
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong sense of urgency and the ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced environment
  • Independent, resourceful and able to work collaboratively with business stakeholders and finance colleagues
  • Proficient in technology tools and data extraction/modelling/visualization tools
