About the Department

Job Responsibilities
Control Operations

  • Ensures effectiveness of the risk and control environment by overseeing the workforce management, MI and SLA reporting of the KYC Ops and Name Screening function, as well as governance and budgeting
  • Ensures strong first Line of Defence control ownership
  • Creates and maintains the interface between the AFC Ops function and other control functions that impact the Business (namely Transaction Monitoring, Payment Screening) and ensures regular reporting of operational metrics to the Head of AFC Ops and GR COO
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to develop and implement new QA processes on KPIs, metrics and reporting. Continually seeks to improve the operational effectiveness, efficiency, and quality standards
  • Stays informed of existing, emerging /new risks around Financial Crime and provides recommendations on appropriate control measures and performance/productivity improvement
Organisational transformation
  • Is responsible for all change affecting the AFC Ops teams, implementing process improvement recommendations and procedural updates derived from changes to policy, technology adoption, process enhancements and remediation of control weaknesses / gaps
  • Defines and takes ownership of the AFC Ops change strategy across control functions (i.e., KYC Ops, Name Screening)
  • Monitors change performance and upcoming change roadmaps, recommends enhancements, and supports the delivery of change programmes
  • Ensures that clear roles and responsibilities are defined and that workstream leads/project managers are clearly aware of what they are accountable for. Ensures interdependencies between workstreams and deliverables are clearly outlined and managed
  • Executes and integrates new capabilities as driven by global objectives
Stakeholder engagement
  • Engages with senior stakeholders to drive effective transformation
  • Attends regular management and team meetings to provide updates on status of projects, initiatives and change roadmap
  • Builds and maintains engagement between AFC Ops Functions, Group Compliance, Group Technology & Operations
Leadership and capacity management
  • Responsible for performance management, leave management, hiring and training in line with HR policies and best practices
  • Guides and mentors individual members of the team to enhance skills, industry and regulatory awareness, technical and institutional knowledge
Job Requirements
  • 10-15 years of direct experience in Financial Crime, Risk Assessment or Quality Assurance in Financial Services, Banking or Regulatory environment
  • Demonstrated capability to interpret complex requirements and be a self-starter
  • Extensive experience in large transformation programmes in a leadership position within Financial Services
  • Demonstrated experience of driving and influencing change in cross-functional initiatives (Business, Technology, Legal)
  • A proven track record of building and leading high performing teams including experience of identifying, developing, and retaining future leaders within a large/complex global organisation and able to engender a sense of shared accountability
  • A proven track record of developing and communicating a sound strategy that addresses both short-term commitments and longer-term strategic goals
  • Excellent senior stakeholder management, the ability to build constructive partnerships with diverse stakeholders and challenge where required
