Business Function

Group Technology and Operations (T&O) enables and empowers the bank with an efficient, nimble and resilient infrastructure through a strategic focus on productivity, quality & control, technology, people capability and innovation. In Group T&O, we manage the majority of the Bank\'s operational processes and inspire to delight our business partners through our multiple banking delivery channels.

The SVP/VP, SRE (Central Function) is responsible for leading the production operations of critical systems within the organization, ensuring high availability and reliability of services to internal and external customers. The successful candidate will work closely with technology and business stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of production incidents and proactive management of technical risks.

Responsibilities

  • Be part of the SRE central team in implementing and continuously improving best practices for service reliability and availability across the organization\'s critical systems.
  • Establish and report on key SRE metrics, including incident trends, percentile time to detect (PTTD), percentile time to recovery (PTTR), failed releases and time to market (TTM).
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the organization\'s production environment, including application architecture, infrastructure, and dependencies.
  • Partner with development teams to ensure that software is designed for reliability, and that service-level objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for service availability and reliability, and develop processes to measure and report on these KPIs.
  • Lead the incident management process, ensuring timely resolution of production incidents and effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks that could impact service availability or reliability.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve existing systems and processes to enhance performance and reduce downtime.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the SRE team.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including technology and business partners, to ensure alignment of priorities and effective collaboration.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, encouraging team members to seek out new ideas and technologies that can improve service reliability and availability.
Requirements
  • Bachelor\'s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Master\'s degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in technology operations, with at least 10 years in a leadership role.
  • Deep understanding of service reliability engineering principles, including monitoring, incident management, and risk management.
  • Experience managing large, complex production environments, preferably in a financial services organization.
  • Experience leading teams of SREs and other technology professionals.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to build relationships with stakeholders across the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to deliver results.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle pressure effectively.
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to make critical decisions quickly and confidently.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop creative solutions.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Experience with cloud-based architectures and technologies is preferred.
  • Familiarity with financial services regulations and compliance requirements is a plus.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of building and leading high-performing teams, as well as a passion for driving innovation and continuous improvement in service reliability and availability.
