Job Description


Job Requirements:
The successful IT system administrator will be responsible for the IT systems hosting our research studies and datasets, and be involved in the installation, administration, and maintenance of systems, applications, and processes and ensuring that all issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner. He/she will be responsible for ensuring server and desktop configurations and applications are at optimal performance and implement necessary security measures and management tools to enable this. He/she is expected to work closely with cross-functional teams, communicate effectively with end-users, external support personnel, and other stakeholders on all IT related matters, including system outages, upgrades, and advise upper management on technical solutions for resolution of issues, and/or recommendations for system enhancements.

Duties and responsibilities include:
Creating and maintaining network enclaves, including establishing system scanning procedures, vulnerability management assessments, and active directory configurations.
Creating and maintaining documentation of server/network environments to ensure that clear, concise and accurate information is readily available
Identifying and rectifying hardware and software issues in a timely and cost-effective manner
Planning and implementing IT enhancements and optimization, which may include defining and mapping IT architecture & processes, designing large-scale DevSecOps pipelines, and delivering secure infrastructure solutions that meet necessary organizational security requirements

Staying on top of updates to IT risk landscape by identifying technical, legal and human security-related risks for items under care, and performing technical penetration testing and vulnerability assessments (VAPT) or other security evaluation processes, and ensure that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats.

Relevant Skills/Experience:
Installation, administration, and maintenance of Linux and Microsoft-based servers/ workstations, including deployment over cloud services and virtual machines
Physical network installation and configuration of network equipment
Patch management and related information security functions (authentication, encryption, iptables, SSL, Ciphers, etc.)
DevOPS automation: Gitlab, Ansible, Terraform, Dockers, Cloud Init, Puppet
Experience with Storage technologies, including cloud and hybrid storage approaches
Familiar with Amazon AWS Policy, Configuration, and Security Management tools
Automated and manual tools for vulnerability assessments (Tenable, NMAP, etc).
Familiar with API Security, Container Security, AWS Cloud Security
Solid knowledge of industry standards (ISO27002, PCI Compliance, NIST/DISA).
Some experience in deploying/migrating services + apps hosted on baremetal systems

Suitable candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor?s Degree in a computing or related discipline, and 2 or more years of relevant experience
Strong analytic and problem-solving abilities
Innovative and independent thinker with attention to detail and adaptability to contingent situations
