North-East Line (NEL) is the world\'s first fully automated driverless high-capacity rapid transit line. On 7 June 2017, the Ministry of Transport announced that the extension of the North-East Line will open in 2023, serving the future Punggol north area. Alstom as historical main contractor of the line, was awarded in December 2018 for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of the Signaling System (Communications-Based Train Control) for the extension of the line, the depot, additional automated trains and locomotives, enhancement of the existing interlocking system (CBI) and overhaul of the Data Management System. This is a very challenging brownfield project which requires Alstom to execute complex work and strong coordination with various stakeholders (E&M, Civil, Trackwork, Public Transport Authorities and Operator) in a line that is already in revenue service.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
As part of its awarded contract for the North East Line Extension (NELe), the scope is to perform the overhaul of some of the Signaling sub-systems for the existing NEL. This work includes the renewal of the Data Management System (DMS) which acts as a gateway between Alstom Signaling System and a third-party Automatic Train Supervision system.

The Test & Commissioning DMS Engineer participates to the execution of the on-site T&C activities for the renewal of the DMS system for the existing NEL stations and depot, and the extension works.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participate in the writing of the T&C procedures and adequate method statements for the DMS sub-system based on defined design specifications and the on-site constraints.
2. Execute the on-site testing based on the approved DMS procedures and Method Statements.
3. Perform and provide preliminary investigations report on faults identified during the site testing.
4. Perform testing and reporting activities consciously with quality,
5. Provide support to the DMS T&C Leader for the daily tasks (preparation, follow-up, progress report...).
6. Work closely with the V&V team to allow specific pre-tests to be performed in the DMS platform, prior to the site activity.
7. Ensure the application of all EHS Golden rules (AZDP) during DMS T&C activities.
8. S/he reports functionally to the DMS T&C Leader and hierarchically to the T&C Manager. Maintains a close relationship with the others members of the T&C and V&V teams.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
EDUCATION

  • University graduate (or equivalent) in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE
  • Knowledge in deployment processes of Driverless Signaling systems (or with similar complexity),
  • Good knowledge in Signaling environments and railway operations principles,
  • Ability to define the testing principles leading to the preparation of the tests plans and/or procedures and reports, ability to define acceptance criteria,
  • Experience in leading the troubleshooting of complex issues involving various internal and external systems. Relevant experience in commissioning of complex systems (ATS, SCADA or similar),
  • Knowledgeable in OPC client-server architectures, XML, COM/DCOM, Database (MS-SQL), Windows HMI design, basic network configuration, and operating systems fundamentals,
  • Knowledgeable in common programming and scripting languages,
  • Experience in software testing and problem troubleshooting.
