Details of the Division and Team: Successful candidates will join a team that supports a complex set of business applications and is the interface for Deutsche Bank’s front, middle and back office client facing and trading businesses. Working with other technology colleagues including those in infrastructure and application development teams your role will be to ensure the stable running of the technology platform. This includes liaising with business users and managing a complex technology plant. Colleagues across Global Technology and our clients are based in key locations across regions and time zones. The role offers the chance to take a high-profile position providing proactive and reactive support to the XCM business and its clients whilst working closely with development and product management teams. They are also expected to be able to translate technical details into business semantics and vice versa. Your key responsibilities: Production support
  • Engage in 24 hours follow-the-sun Production Support model (including on-call responsibilities)
  • Act as an escalation point for user issues and requests within the stream and report issues to senior management
  • Supports the production platform, carrying out monitoring and remediation of issues and specific maintenance tasks as per the run book procedures
  • Works with Delivery Services eg (Fabric, Infrastructure) on improvements to service availability and resilience
  • Continual Service Improvement activities
  • Disaster Recovery Planning & Testing
  • Second line of defense for Incident Management – gathering data for investigation and identification of root cause through to resolution
  • Defines and creates Run Book entries and knowledge articles based on incidents experienced in the production environment
  • Engage in the development and implementation of the tools and best practices needed to provide effective support
  • Ensure Capacity Management and Knowledge Management are utilized to aid proactive and reactive support
Analysis
  • Carries out deep technical analysis of production to identify performance, stability and resilience enhancements
  • Investigates operational requirements, problems, and opportunities, seeking effective Production solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes
  • Assists in design and creation of NFRs through identification of further requirements
  • Applies data analysis, data modelling, and quality assurance techniques, based upon a detailed understanding of business processes, to establish, modify or maintain data structures and associated components (entity descriptions, relationship descriptions, attribute definitions). Advises database designers and other application development team members on the details of data structures and associated components
Relationship Management
  • There is a significant amount of day to day relationship management involved in this role in order to provide excellent service, concentrating especially on the values core to the bank. Work with wide cross section of teams, including SL3, Development, QA and central platform teams, to effectively manage their expectations.
Incident Management
  • Prioritizes and diagnoses incidents according to agreed procedures. Investigates causes of incidents and seeks resolution
  • Facilitates recovery, following resolution of incidents
  • Documents and closes resolved incidents according to agreed procedures
Change Management
  • Assesses, analyses, develops, documents and implements changes based on requests for change.
  • These could be technical and/or functional solutions as provided by Development and/or other Production Engineers ensuring segregation of duties
  • Configure the application in response to business and/or technical problems and in accordance with provided data
  • Looks to move scripting into application where appropriate
  • Defines scope and business priorities for small-scale changes and may assist in larger scale scoping exercises. Specifies and documents business requirements as directed, ensuring traceability back to source. Analyze them for adherence to business objectives and for consistency, challenging positively as appropriate.
Problem management
  • Investigates problems in systems, processes and services.
  • Ensures PIR reporting and Root Cause Analysis
  • Assists with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures.
  • Attends Program Meetings to prioritize owned stability and performance enhancements as identified in production
Release and deployment :
  • Uses the tools and techniques for specific areas of release and deployment activities.
  • Administers the recording of activities, logging of results and documents technical activity undertaken.
  • May carry out early life support activities such as providing support advice to initial users.
  • Participate with the release feature team ensuring Production have representation throughout the lifecycle
Your skills and experience:
  • 2 years of experience in production support in the banking industry
  • Hands on experience in SQL and Unix
  • Experience in dealing with clients requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with competing and alternating priorities with a constant focus on delivery
  • Ability to facilitate client discussions and collaborate with clients and identify engagement follow-on opportunities
  • Ability to balance business demands and IT fulfilment in terms of standardization, reducing risk and increasing IT flexibility Excellent problem solving skills in a distributed, multi-technology ecosystem
  • Strong scripting experience in Java, Python and Shell
  • Solid understanding of messaging middleware like Solace, TIBCO or MQ using JMS
  • Solid understanding of monitoring systems like ITRS Geneos or similar tool
  • Strong Knowledge of Oracle Management, SQL scripts, performance management.
  • Knowledge of SQL and relational databases – traditional RDMS, such as Oracle
  • Strong knowledge of configuration management tools like Ansible
  • Strong understanding of Unix, Linux and Windows
  • Understanding of Agile and Safe methodologies
  • Good understanding of Hadoop and data visualization tools like Tableau
  • Sound understanding of strong change management processes and controls in large organizations.

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in Computer Science or Software Engineering (or equivalent) – with a minor in Finance, Mathematics or Engineering preferred.
