Job Description


UWCSEA has a vacancy from August 2025 at its East Campus for a full time Teacher of High School History (IB Diploma Programme level and G9 and G10 UWC History course), and UWC Perspectives. An ability to teach TOK would also be an advantage. The successful candidate will join a thriving Humanities faculty.Main Responsibilities

  • Teachers should be willing to contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the of the History Department, Humanities Faculty, and broader High School teams.
  • Teachers construct learning experiences that challenge and inspire students, support the diversity of learners in each classroom and demonstrate a strong commitment to concept-based teaching and learning.
  • Teachers ensure assessments support ongoing learning and provide timely, relevant, and appropriate feedback to students on formative and summative assessments.
  • Teachers demonstrate effective classroom management that shows an understanding of the academic, social, and emotional dimensions of learning.
  • Teachers keep parents informed about the learning of their children, and be proactive in communication with parents.

  • A degree in History, or a closely related discipline, and a recognised teaching qualification or certification.
  • Successful prior experience of teaching History to the 11-18 age range, including at IBDP level
  • As well as teaching History, there is a requirement to teach our UWC Perspectives course.
  • Participation in the five key elements of a UWCSEA education: Academics; Activities; Outdoor Education; Personal and Social Education and Service
  • Enthusiastic participation in Professional Learning initiatives.
  • Leadership of a mentor group.
  • An annual contribution of two sessions per week to our Activities and/or Service programmes.
  • Participation in Outdoor Education experiences where relevant/logistically possible.
  • The ability to engage with students and to engender enthusiasm for learning.
  • A commitment to diversity and inclusion is essential, alongside a willingness to adapt and develop pedagogy to meet the needs of our learners.
  • Applicants should be enthusiastic about teaching within a multicultural environment.
  • Flexibility of approach and a collaborative style are essential.
