Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of programming experience in Java, C++, or Python.

Preferred qualifications:

6 years experience in Data Center operations and software.
Experience owning projects to drive long-term improvements in the stack.
Experience developing backend applications and/or shell scripts.
Good communication and collaboration skills, working effectively to discuss prioritization between organizations.
Ability to travel to data center sites as required.

About the job

In this role, you will participate in Blocker Escalation and Incident Management as well as Inner-sourcing, working closely with the Engineering team.
The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems in the world. We are a diverse, upbeat, creative, team-oriented group of engineers committed to building and operating powerful data centers.

Responsibilities

Resolve stakeholder issues through effective diagnosis, troubleshooting and development of internal tools and automation to assist with troubleshooting and issue management.
Create playbooks, tools and software to enable the Server Operations team to resolve blocking issues without the need for escalation.
Agile prioritization and strong communication / collaboration skills.
Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders across Google Server Operations and Engineering teams on the issues and underlying root causes resulting in negative business outcomes.
