Job Summary : The Technical Specialist \xe2\x80\x93 Molecular at Medpace Reference Laboratories plays a pivotal role in research-based drug development within the pharmaceutical industry. You would have the unique opportunity to work on the laboratory side of the fast-paced medical world by conducting tests on blood, tissue and other samples. The current opening is for a candidate with strong background in qPCR techniques for quantification of viruses as well as gene expression in different sample types using sample-to-result qPCR platforms, Sanger sequencing and Next Generation Sequencing using Illumina Platforms. The incumbent is also expected to have a broader knowledge of other molecular techniques especially cell culturing and genomics. Responsibilities :

• Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting;
• Expected to develop knowledge of federal regulations regarding clinical trials;
• Expected to develop knowledge of pre-analytical variables affecting clinical laboratory testing;
• Expected to develop knowledge of disease processes and correlation with clinical laboratory data;
• Perform laboratory investigations;
• Perform testing, documentation, and routine lab system operations;
• Ensure validity of laboratory data reported.
• Develop methods for routine and biomarker testing (primarily using qPCR, Sanger sequencing and NGS) in our expanding laboratory.
• Perform viral load and sequencing assays according to SOPs.
• Participate in validation activities and participate in daily operation of the qPCR and sequencing platforms.
• Participate in experimental design and instrument set-up.
• Contribute to maintaining a Quality environment and participate actively in SOP writing; and
• Maintain overview of inventory and orders.

Qualifications :

• Min. Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree of Science.
• Experience with qPCR techniques especially on large platforms such as the Abbott m2000 and the Roche Cobas; experience in Sanger and NGS sequencing
• Experience in optimizing, and analyzing results.
• Knowledge of principles of viral load, viral shedding and gene expression by qPCR, Sanger sequencing and NGS preferably in a central lab environment.
• Knowledge of the Analyse-it data analysis statistical package is preferable;
• Basic knowledge of drug therapy techniques and medical terminology;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good command of both written and spoken of English;
• Able to work in a team environment with effective interpersonal skills and able to work independently; and
