NIE invites applications for Technical Specialist position in the Natural Sciences and Science Education Department.
Responsibilities
Course-based responsibilities

• Assist the teaching faculty in the preparation of materials for lessons.
• Support research faculty in the laboratory-based courses (e.g., undergraduate students' Final Year Project and URECA).

Research-based responsibilities

• Maintenance of the laboratory equipment and resources (e.g., apparatuses, chemicals, etc.).
• Handling and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments (training provided).

Administrative responsibilities

• Ensuring laboratory safety and assisting in laboratory safety audits.
• Housekeeping of laboratories.
• Purchasing and procurement of laboratory resources.
• Any other department-related administrative work assigned by the Reporting Officer.

Requirements

• A Polytechnic Diploma in Biology and Biology-related fields.
• Minimum 1-year of relevant working experience in a science or related environment.
• Experience in providing technical support to students in higher education will be an added advantage.
• High level of safety awareness.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to multi-task, work independently, and work effectively in a team.
• Hard working, responsible, committed, with self-discipline.
