A Floor Tiler is responsible for laying, cutting, and finishing tiles on floors, ensuring the surface is level, durable, and visually appealing. The role involves preparing surfaces, applying adhesives, setting tiles to design specifications, and ensuring high-quality workmanship in residential, commercial, or industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and clean surfaces before tiling (e.g. leveling floors, removing old flooring, filling cracks).
Measure work areas and mark layout lines according to design drawings or patterns.
Cut tiles to size using hand or power tools.
Mix and apply mortar, cement, or adhesives to fix tiles securely.
Lay tiles evenly with proper spacing and alignment.
Fill gaps and joints with grout and clean excess materials from surfaces.
Polish, seal, and finish tiled surfaces for a professional appearance.
Repair and replace cracked or damaged tiles when required.
Ensure all work meets quality, safety, and durability standards.
Maintain tools and keep the work area tidy and safe.
Requirements:
Minimum Education: Primary or Secondary education.
Certification (Singapore):
BCA CoreTrade - Tiling & Plastering or Certificate of Trade Test (CTT).
Apply Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) in Construction Sites (CSOC).
Experience: At least 2-3 years of tiling experience in construction or renovation works.
Knowledge: Understanding of tiling materials, adhesives, and layout patterns.
Skills:
Tile cutting, measuring, and alignment accuracy.
Knowledge of adhesives, grout, and sealants.
Good sense of design, color, and finishing detail.
Physical fitness and manual dexterity.
Ability to read drawings or layout instructions.
Attention to detail and precision.
Safety awareness and teamwork.
