Our Client are an established and successful ship broking business focusing on the tanker markets. As they are currently going through a period of growth they have an opportunity for an ambitious maritime graduate to join them as Trainee Shipbroker.
As a shipbroker you will be working with commodity traders and producers to help them arrange their shipping with ship owners. This means you will be negotiating terms for chartering of ships.
Shipbroking is a highly commercial and sales focused role and you will be working in a dynamic environment developing new business, managing relationships with existing accounts, providing expert guidance on market conditions, and fixing deals. There is some client entertainment involved and some work outside of usual office hours.
Full training can be provided. If you have not been a Shipbroker before then you will start off in Operations for 3-6 months to learn the business before moving to the Broking desk.
Our client is interested to speak with you if you are:
- Recent maritime studies graduate (or similar)
- People person who enjoys talking with people on the phone
- Mandarin or Bahasa language would be useful as many of the clients are in China and Indonesia
- People with 1 or 2 years shipbroking experience are also welcome to apply
The job can be very rewarding personally, professionally and financially. Good shipbrokers are well regarded people in the shipping industry and they are very well paid based upon their performance.
